POLICY
City Councilmembers and elected officials shall make requests of City staff via the City
Manager with responses back through the City Manager to all Councilmembers to allow
for better tracking and follow-up on requests from Council and to prevent duplication of
efforts. Councilmembers and elected officials may inquire of but shall not direct any
other staff member. All such direction is to be provided through the City Manager.
Councilmembers and elected officials may wish to schedule appointments with the City
Manager and designated staff to prevent excessive interruptions and allow for appropriate
utilization of staff.
This policy is not intended to cover Councilmember interaction with either the City
Attorney’s Office or the City Clerk’s Office.
Staff and Council phone numbers will be provided to all Councilmembers, and are
intended for use in emergency situations when staff is not on duty. This information is
personal and confidential in nature and, as such, phone numbers shall not, without the
express permission of the affected individual, be shared with the public.
