HomeMy WebLinkAboutCouncil Policy No. 200-02 - Open Meetings-Brown Act CITY OF LAKE ELSINORE CALIFORNIA COUNCIL POLICY MANUAL SUBJECT: Open Meetings-Brown Act Policy No. 200-2 Effective Date: 3/23/99 Revised: 9/12/06 Page No. 1 of 1 BACKGROUND The Ralph M. Brown Act (Government Code Sections 54950 et sec.) requires that meetings of the legislative body of a local agency shall be open and public. Therefore, because they are included in the definition of a “legislative body,” the City Council, Redevelopment Agency and all boards, commissions, and ad hoc committees are required to comply with the Brown Act PURPOSE To ensure that the legislative bodies of the City of Lake Elsinore deliberate and take action in open session in compliance with the Brown Act. POLICY All regular, special and adjourned meetings of any board, commission, and committee shall be called, noticed and conducted in compliance with the Brown Act. The City Attorney shall provide a copy of the Brown Act to all elected and appointed members of the City Council, Redevelopment Agency, boards, commissions, and committees in accordance with Section 54952.7 of the Brown Act.
