RESOLUTION NO.~~~
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ELSINORE, CALIFORNIA, PROVIDING FOR THE CALLING
OF A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON
THE 4th DAY OF JANUARY, 1949,POR THE PURPOSE
OF VOTING ON AN ORDINANCE SUBMITTED BY INITIATIVE
PETITION.
WHEREAS, an initiative petition has been regularly
circulated in the City of Elsinore, submitting a proposed ordinanc
entitled, "An Ordinance of the City of Elsinore Prohibiting
Certain Games of Chance in said City and Repealing Ordinance No.
292 and Other Ordinances in Conflict Therewith", to the City
Council of said City under the provisions of Article 1, Chapter
3, Division 4 of the Election Code of the State of California;
and,
WHEREAS, the City Clerk has examined the said petition
and ascertained that the same was signed by the requisite number
of voters and has attached his certificate thereto, and it appear-
ing therefrom that said petition was signed by more than 15%' of
the voters of said City, and should be submitted to a vote of the
people at a special election; and,
WHEREAS, a Special Municipal Election is to be he~d in
said Ci ty on Tuesday, January 1-1-, 1949, for the purp ose of fil~lng
a vacancy on the City Council, and the election on said proposed
Ordinance should be consolidated therewith;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
That a special municipal election be, and the same is
hereby called to be held on Tuesday, the 4th day of January, 1949,
for the purpose of submitting to the vote of the people a proposed
ordinance as set out in full in the initiative petition on file
with the City Clerk entitled, "An Ordinance of the City of

That said spec ial munici pal elec ti on be cons olida ted wi th
that heretofore called by resolution No. 5W+, for the purpose
of electing a person to fill the vacancy on the City Council
caused by the resignation of Roy Morton.
That the City Clerk is hereby directed to give notice
thereof in the form and manner provided in the Election Code
of the State of California and shall cause the proposed Ordinance
to be printed in full and a copy thereof together with a sample
ballot to be mailed to each voter at least ten days prior to the
election.
That the ballots used in said election shall have printed
thereon the words,
"Shall the Ordinance Entitled, An Ordinance of the
City of Elsinore Prohibiting Certain Games of
Chance in said City and Repealing Ordinance No.
292 and Other Ordinances in Conflict Therewith,
Be Adopted".
That said ballot shall also have printed opposite to
the statement of the Ordinance to be voted on and to its right,
the words "Yes" and "No" to be printed in separate lines in voting
squares. If a voter stamps a cross in the voting square after
the printed word "Yes" his vote shall be counted in favor of the
adoption of the Ordinance. If he stamps a cross in the voting
square after the word IINO", his vote shall be counted against
its adoption.

That election precincts numbered 1 and 4, be and they
are hereby consolidated into one precinct to be known as ltElsinore
Consolidated Precinct No. A", and the voting place for said
precinct shall be at the City Hall Fire Station at number 130
South Main Street in the City of Elsinore, County of Riverside,
State of California.

precinct shall be at the Women's Club House, at 710 West Graham
Avenue, in the City of Elsinore, County of Riverside, State of
Gal ifornia.

That the pells at said election shall be open from the
hour of 7:00 o'clock A.M. until 7:00 o'clock P.M. on said election
day.
That the following election officers shall be appointed
for said election and they shall receive for compensation the sum
of
$10.00
