Fixtures shall be protected from damage during construction. B . Installation procedures shall be in accordance with these Specifications and the Manufacturers directions. 3.02 ADJUSTING AND CLEANING A. Prior to final acceptance, inspect faucets, flush valves, slip valves, and similar devices, to determine that they operate properly and discharge the proper quantities of water. Correct any deficiencies as directed by the Owners representatives. B. Clean fixtures, trim, and accessories of foreign materials, including labels. If there is doubt as to proficiency of welder, Owner's representative may require welder to take another test. This will be done at no cost to Owner. Certification will be by Pittsburgh Testing Laboratories or other approved authority. 3.02 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL , A. Testing: After installation, pressure test the entire system. 1. For each line intended to be operated at pressure of less than 1 psig, give leak test at a pressure of 25 psig, or as required by local authority if more stringent. 2. For each line intended to be operated at a pressure of 1 psig and above, give leak test at a pressure of 100 psig, or as required by local authority if more stringent. 3. Maintain full test pressure for a period of 30 minutes, and make visual inspection for tightness of System. B. Testing In State of Colorado: If project is in Colorado, test in accordance with the following in (` addition to that specif ied above. j 1. For each non - welded line, give leak test at a pressure of 25 psig, or as required by local authority it more stringent. 2. All Contractor furnished equipment shall be CEC certified as required. 1.03 SUBMITTALS A. Submit the following under provisions of Section 01300. B . PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 FABRICATION A. Fabricate, erect and Install ductwork for heating ventilating, and air conditioning systems in a first -classmanner, per state and local requirements, and SMACNA duct construction standards (latest edition). B . Make joints air tight on supply, return, and exhaust ducts. Seal transverse and longitudinal joints with duct sealer. Seal exhaust ducts with exterior seal as required to assure a positive seal. C. Insulate rectangular supply ductwork with specified liner in accordance with latest edition of SMACNA duct liner application standard. D. Insulate rectangular return ductwork with specffed liner in accordance with latest edition of SMACNA duct liner application standard. E. Insulate round supply and return ductwork with specified duct wrap. Overlap facing and staple securely, leaving clean and neat. 3.02 DUCT SUPPORTS A. Horizontal and vertical sheet metal duct work shall be supported in accordance with the appropriate latest SMACNA Duct Constructic a Standards and the schedule following. Wal -Mart will provide the services of an Independent Test and Balance Agency (ITBA) who will be responsible for the Test and Balance of all environmental systems installed or modified under this Contract. B. Provide all necessary balancing dampers as specified and shown on the Drawings for proper balancing of all systems. C. The Contractor shall prepare the system for Test and Balance as follows: 1. Install, start up, check out, and adjust all HVAC systems per Drawings and Specifications and have fully operational with all deficiencies corrected on or before Wal -Mart's Substantial Completion Date. 2. Verify that mechanical contractor has installed new fitters no more than one day prior to starting test and balance procedure. 3. Verify that all duct work is clean and sealed tight against leaks. 4. Verify that all controls, dampers, and actuators are installed, adjusted, and calibrated. 5. To maintain schedules and prevent return trips, have experienced personnel available to correct HVAC system deficiencies while ITBA is scheduled on site. 6. Secure control dampers after Test and Balance as directed by ITBA. D. The Contractor shall notify Wal -Mart Construction Department when HVAC systems are ready for Test and Balance. If Contractor fails to notify Wal -Mart Construction Department of status, the ITBA will be scheduled into the store during the week following Contract Substantial Completion Date. E. Upon completion of system Test and Balance, a copy of the ITBA report will be forwarded to Contractor. If HVAC system deficiencies exist, a letter listing those deficiencies will also be forwarded to the Contractor immediately for correction. If the Contractor fails to respond and correct these deficiencies within seven days upon receipt of the letter, Wal -Mart will authorize repairs as judged necessary and take the necessary contractual action to recover adequate compensation for the repair expenses. F. As a result of HVAC system performance or operational deficiencies, a return trip by the ITBA to complete Test and Balance will be authorized when deemed necessary by Wal -Mart Construction Department. This return trip will be costed at $45.00 per hour plus mileage and expenses, and Wal -Mart will take the necessary contractual action to recover adequate compensation for the ITBA expenses. 1.02 INDEPENDENT TEST AND BALANCE AGENT A. The ITBA shall be certified by the National Environmental Balancing Bureau (NEBB) or the Associated Air Balance Council (AABC). Testing and balancing shall be supervised by a Registered Professional Engineer. All personnel Involved in the execution of the work for the ITBA shall be technicians experienced and trained specifically in the testing and balancing of mechanical systems. All instrurrants used by this ITBA shall be recently and accurately calibrated and maintained in good working order. Verification of calibration shall be submitted in the final test report if so requested by Wal -Mart. 1.03 TESTING AND BALANCING PROCEDURES A. All specified eqquipment shall be tested, adjusted, and balanced in accordance with the governing NEBB or AABC Procedural Standards. B. Make a preliminary system check on all HVAC, control and Energy Management systems and equipment to be tested to determine that equipment, duct work, etc. is installed and will operate. Provide, and install, and terminate Novar Controls wall temperature sensors (WTS -10) for each roof top unit (RTU) according to location on plans. Install Novar Controls equipment under the supervision and direction of the energy management contractor. See Section 13810. C. Follow unit manufacturers printed installation and start-up instructions. Record the designated start-up data on form "Air Conditioning Start-u Report". The General Contractor shall retain the form on site and submit to Wal -Mart Independent Test and Balance Agency prior to the start of - balancing. 1. Prior to Test and Balance, the mechanical contractor shall complete all work in this Section, schedule final checkout of EMS controls to be performed by EMS contractor and have final inspection by Energy Management Contractor. D. Start-up shall be in the presence of Wal -Mart Construction Manager unless Owner directs otherwise. It all start-up and testing cannot be properly done due to seasonal weather conditions, remaining start-up shall be performed at an appropriate time. Payment may be withheld until work is complete. During start-up, Contractor shall operate each unit In every mode and step of fan, heating and cooling separately or in conjunction with other units for a sufllolent period of time, demonstrating to the Owners satisfaction that each unit is operating properly. 2.03 AIR DUCT SMOKE DETECTORS A. Where required for roof top units, the snake detector will be factory mounted and wired in the roof top unit unless noted otherwise on plans. - 2.04 ROOF EXHAUST FANS A. Roof Fans: Low contour, spun aluminum hood and base sections with curb cap, bird screen, centrifugal with direct or bait drive motor mounted on resilient supports with isolators between 7 support and base. Motor shall have thermal overloads and be located out of exhaust air stream. Fans to be UL listed and AMCA rated, of capacities and electrical characteristics scheduled. Equipment as manufactured by one of the following manufacturers: 1. Acme. i 2. Carnes. l 3. Cook. 4. Penn. 5. Greenback. 6. Breidert. f 7. ILG. B. Fan Curbs: 18 gage galvanized steel or aluminum welded prefabricated curbs at least 14 inches high with built-in cant strip, attached to the roof deck and properly flashed and sealed to the building roof, conforming to roofing requirements and forming a weatherproof connection between the unit and the roof. 15500 -2 ! C. Follow unit manufacturer's printed installation and start-up instructions. Check fan rotation and operation of dampers. D. Contractor shall schedule start-up, allowing Wal -Mart Construction Manager to be present unless Owner directs otherwise. During start-up, operate each unit in every mode separately or in conjunction with other units for a sufficient period of time demonstrating to the Owners/Wal -Mart Construction Managers satisfaction that the unit is operating properly. E. During first -year warranty, Contractor may be required to make some or all of the above readings in order to demonstrate that the systems are operating properly during each season. Contractor will make additional adjustments and corrections as required during the warranty period ensuring proper operation of fan. F. Controls for roof exhaust fans shall be installed by the electrical contractor. Electrical contractor shall provide and install related Energy Management equipment for roof exhaust fans. 2.05 CEILING EXHAUST FANS A. Provide ceiling exhaust fans for use as indicated on Drawings. Fans shall have an integral face grille, insulated cabinet with backdrafl damper, and direct drive centrifugal wheel. Fans shall be UL listed and AMCA rated, of capacitiL.3 and electrical characteristics scheduled. Equipment as manufactured by one of the following: 1. Acme. 2. Breidert. 3. Carnes. 4. Cook. 5. Greenhec k. 6. ILG. 7. Penn. B. Furnish and Install roof cap with birdscreen on 18 gage galvanized steel or aluminum welded prefabricated curb at least 14 inches high with built -in cant strip, attached to the roof deck and property flashed and sealed to the building roof, conforming to roofing requirements, and forming a weatherproof connection between the unit and the roof. Heaters shall have direct ignition spark of the pilot ignitor through a solid-state, direct-spark ignition system. Loss of gas or power shall cause 100% shut -off of main burner and pilot. Heater shall be equipped with controls for 24 VAC thermostatic operation as manufactured by one of the following: 1. Dravo - Hastings. 2. Lennox. 3. Modine. 4. Reznor. 5. Sterling. B . Heaters shall have aluminized steel or stainless steel heat exchanger and aluminized steel burners with stainless steel burner insert. C. Cabinet panels of minimum 20 gage cold rolled steel with enamel finish. Adjustable hangers and hanger assembly. D.
