Verify deck is clean and smooth, free of depressions, waves, or projections, properly sloped to drains, valleys, and eaves. Verify plywood deck joints are evenly spaced at intersections, clean and dry. B. Verify roof openings, curbs, pipes, sleeves, ducts, or vents through roof are solidly set, cant strips, nailing strips, and reglets are in place. Verify deck is supported and tightly secured. C. Verity deck surfaces are dry and free of snow and ice. Confirm dry deck by moisture meter with 12 percent moisture maximum. D. Beginning installation means acceptance of substrate and pre - installation conference has been held with agreements reached. 3.02 PREPARATION A. Protect building surfaces against damage from roofing work. B. Where work shall continue over finished roof membrane, protect surfaces. 3.03 INSULATION INSTALLATION A. See Section 07210 for roof Insulation installation. 3.04 MEMBRANE APPLICATION A. Maximum Asphalt Temperature at Kettle: 425 degrees F. Minimum Temperature at Point of Application: EVT, plus or minus 25 degrees F. Heat bitumen in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. B . Apply roofing membrane in strict accordance with roofing manufacturer's printed instructions. C. Apply membrane smooth, free from air pockets, wrinkles, fishmouths, or tears. D. Install cut -off at end of day's operation. Glaze felts exposed at end of working day. E. Mop and seal one additional ply of roof cap sheet around roof protrusions. 3.05 WATER CUTOFFS AND WEATHER PROTECTION A. Install water cutoffs, two plies in hot asphalt with asphalt glaze coat, at end of day's operation to seal the edge of the roof membrane from moisture entry. If rain or foul weather appears imminent during roofing application, cease operations and protect deck, flashings, penetrations and membrane from moisture intrusion and damage with water cutoffs. All roofing materials not so protected before rain is considered damaged materials and will be rejected. B. Apply two plies of felt in 23 Ibslsq of hot ashpalt with asphalt glaze coat over cutoffs and as recommended by roofing system manufacturer. C. Remove water cutoofs and other temporary weather protections prior to continuing roofing work. Remove materials that have been subject to moisture damage and return deck to a clean, dry condition before proceding with roofing operations. No work shall be done on said roof, including, but without limitation, work in connection with flues, vents, drains, sign braces, railings, platforms or other equipment fastened to or set on the roof, and no repairs or alterations shall be made to said roof, unless Contractor shall first be notified through Wal -Mart Maintenance Department, and shall be given the opportunity to provide the necessary roofing work. Contractor shall be paid for time and materials expended in making requested repairs occasioned by the work of others on said roof. 5. Form sections square, true, and accurate in size, in maximum possible lengths and free of distortion or defects detrimental to appearance or performance. Allow for expansion at joints. E. Hem exposed edges of metal. F. Solder metal joints. After soldering, remove flux. Wipe and wash solder joints clean. G. Fabricate gutter and downspout accessories; solder watertight. H. Shop Finishing: 1. Shop prepare and prima ferrous metal surfaces. 2. Back paint concealed metal surfaces with protective coating paint to minimum dry film thickness of 15 mil. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 EXAMINATION A. Verity that surfaces are ready to receive work and conditions are as acceptable. B. Beginning of installation means acceptance of existing conditions and substrate. 3.02 INSTALLATION A. Install gutters, downspouts, and accessories. Install gutter hangers at 4' -0" o.c. and at each expansion & control joint. B. Joint lengths with formed seams soldered watertight. Flash and solder gutters to downspouts and accessories.
