SB-821 Lakeshore Dr. ADA Sidewalk Improvement Project
Week 1
6-10-2025 to 6-13-25
Project start.
Met onsite, showed foreman where their staging area can be. (between Parkway and Lakeshore,
and Ave 1 High St).
Project sign installed
Saw cut asphalt from Senior Center entrance to Center St
Started to Jack hammer and remove asphalt
-Asphalt is 10 inches thick and has petromat. Have allowed for material to be stored on staging
area lot until they locate a place to take it

Continued saw cutting asphalt,jack hammering, and removing
Discussed catch basin detail (provided standard CB 100)
Discussed changes at bus stop by Senior Center as plans show to put back AC, but we prefer
concrete.
Discussed adding 1 drive approach along Lakeshore near Marian that was not in plan details
(provided City Standard 117 - Residential drive approach)
Discussed repairs to drive approach at 92 Herbert Ave

Week 2
Weekly 6-16-25 through 6-20-25
Have been working with foreman to find all issues that do not align with plans provided. RFI's
have been submitted to Carlos. These include survey markings not working with elevation of
road so they had to bring back material to fill the 6 to 8 inch difference. Also had added drive
approaches that were not listed on the plans.
Completed 2 interviews on Record of Employee Interview form HUD-11.
They have sawcut roughly 4500 linear feet.
Demo roughly 3500 linear feet
They did have compaction test,but they had to fill roughly 6 inches to match appropriate grade.
They have roughly 2500 linear feet ready for secondary compaction test.
Concrete form has been readjusted and set for first drive approach at the tire shop.
Week 3
6-23-25 thought 6-27-25
6-24-25 Curb machine started, continue through 6-25-25. Roughly 3000 linear ft expected to be
completed by end of day (1500 each day)
Sawcut completed, except for at cross streets.
Demo roughly 4000 linear feet of asphalt. Still need to grade for curb and gutter.
First of 3 drive approaches poured and opened for the tire shop.

(Note- during demo they have areas of asphalt up to 22"thick. Thickness varies throughout
entire length of Lakeshore. RFI expected to be submitted. Also, entire removal section does have
petromat.
Week 4
6-30-25 thought 7-4-25
6-30-25-Poured roughly 250 linear feet of sidewalk to include the 2nd and 3rd drive approach at
the tire shop.
Continue bringing in dirt and grading along stretch where curb and gutter had been completed.
7-1-25- Met with Sal from EVMWD to discuss fire hydrants and which ones need a riser, and
which ones need relocated. 1 riser was installed, and they are scheduling relocating 2 hydrants
7-2-25- string line being set for curb machine
7-3-25- Poured an additional stretch of curb and gutter. Roughly 70 percent complete with the
machine work. Working from Eleanor st heading north.
Week 5
7-7-25 thought 7-11-25
Scheduled to be on site 7-11-25 to finish with curb and gutter machine.
7-10-25 Poured sidewalk, roughly 30 percent complete with sidewalk.

Continue bringing in dirt and grading along stretch where curb and gutter had been
completed.

Saw cutting- 98% (still have connecting streets that may need saw cut)
Curb & Gutter- 80% (completed the straight areas on 7-11-25)
Drive Approach- 20% (There was 4 additional drive approaches not listed on plans)
Intersection Construction- 0% (Have not started demo)

Demo- 90%
Importing dirt for grade-70% (asphalt is much thicker than expected. They will have
much more backfill than expected. Fill material provided from empty lot from
previous Avenue storm drain project)
Week 6

7-14-25 — not on site
7-15-25 — Harding and Harper on site to complete slot patching where the curb and gutter
had been complete
7-16-25 through 7-18-25- not on site

7-21-25 thought 7-25-25
7-21-25 —continued to bring in dirt to grade for sidewalk
7-23-25- Had a team's call with EVMWD in regards to 3 shut off valves that are in the sidewalk.
EVMWD to remove 1 valve and set concrete boxes around the other 2. (EVMWD could not
schedule removal and approved contractor to continue)
7-24-25 and 7-25-25- continued grading and forming for sidewalk.

7-28-25- continued grading and forming for sidewalk.
7-29-25- Poured sidewalk/removed forms
7-30-25 - continued grading and forming for sidewalk.
7-31-25- Poured sidewalk/removed forms

8-6-25- Pour Concrete
Note- EVMWD provided Leonida with 3 concrete valve boxes. Boxes were placed and
concrete was poured around these on 8-6-25.

8-11-25 thought 8-15-25
8-11-25- Grade, form, and prep for concrete. Core the requested holes in the curb and install
the 3" drainpipe
8-12-25- Poured concrete
8-13-25- Dug out area for catch basin, had to back fill per SoCalGas. They were within 10 feet
of a gas line (93"). Demo asphalt section by tire shop.
8-14-25- Was not on site

Week 11
8-18-25 thought 8-22-25
8-18-25- Poured remaining sidewalk to complete section from tire shop to condos. Started
demo asphalt by bus stop.
8-19-25- Completed demo by bus stop, graded, compacted, and set forms. Demo catch basin.
Due to newly marked gas line being within 2 feet of catch basin, catch basin was pushed back
by about 6" to give a min 2' distance from the gas line.
8-20-25- Start setting rebar and forming in catch basin. Poured concrete by the bus stop.
8-21-25- Pour concrete at catch basin. Start back filling behind sidewalk. Cut out asphalt in
prep for slot patching. Remove sections of berm in prep for new berm to tie in from return.
8-22-25- Form the top of the catch basin. Backfill behind sidewalk

8-25-25- Backfill behind sidewalk. Pour concrete top of catch basin
8-26-25- Backfill behind sidewalk. Form for sidewalk at catch basin. Place truncated domes
8-27-25- Backfill behind sidewalk
8-28-25- Auger for fence post, and set fence post
8-29-25- Continue Setting fence poles, run fencing cable. Continue backfilling behind
sidewalk.

Capture Filter- (Catch Basin is completed, however the Bio Clean Full Trash Capture Filter and
the steps inside the basin have not been completed- rough estimate- 80%
Note- line items below were removed from the project (Items removed due to estimated
increase in cost for asphalt removal section).
Removed Line items- 4, 11, 12, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21, 24, and 35
Informative Notes-
• EVMWD provided 1 water meter box to replace the broken water meter box at the tire
shop
• EVMWD pushed back 2 fire hydrants that were in the way of the new sidewalk
between tire shop and Center st
• Morton Ave curb and gutter was molded to go around a fire hydrant and differs
slightly from plans
