Based on an individual freestanding commercial structure size of 46,484² feet, of type II-B construction, the fire flow requirement would be 2,250 GPM for a 2-hour duration @ 20 PSI
residual pressure.
The actual fire flow requirement for the square footage indicated, based on Appendix B of the 2022 California Fire Code, is 4,500 GPM for a 4-hour duration at 20 psi. Riverside County
Fire Department allows a 50% credit on fire flow for fire sprinklers. Therefore, the required fire flow for the project has been adjusted to the requirements listed above.
These numbers are preliminary. Updated fire flow may be necessary upon submittal and review of building plans.
