SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT OF COMMISSIONERS TO THE PUBLIC SAFETY
ADVISORY COMMISSION
Background
Three Public Safety Advisory Commissioners' terms will expire at the end of this month.
An interview subcommittee designated by the City Council will present its
recommendations for appointment consideration.
Discussion
With the expiration of three PSAC Commissioners' terms, the City Council must appoint
new Commission members to serve four-year terms beginning July 1, 2009 through
June 30. 2013.
The City published newspaper advertisements and Web information inviting City
residents and/or owners of a business within the City of Lake Elsinore to apply for these
Commission openings. Five applicants responded.
All applicants were interviewed by a City Council subcommittee consisting of Mayor Pro
Tem Melendez and Councilman Daryl Hickman. The applicants were also invited to
attend tonight's meeting, so they could be introduced to the City Council and the public.
The applicants, listed in alphabetical order, are:
Renee Cummings Steven Manos
Marney Fairchild Mike Norkin (incumbent)
Douglas Lanphere
The subcommittee will present its final recommendations for appointment to the Public
Safety Advisory Commission during the City Council meeting.

Fiscal Impact
Nominal. Serving on the Public Safety Advisory Commission is voluntary; no meeting
stipend or other compensation is provided.
Recommendation
Consider subcommittee recommendations for appointment to the Public Safety Advisory
Commission for new terms commencing July 1, 2009 and ending on June 30, 2013.
