1.00 GENERAL
I.01 SCO1 Furnish material and perform labor required to
execute this work as Indicated on the drawings. as
sperified and as necessary to complete the Contract.
Including, but not limited to, these major Items,
A. Telephone boxes,
conduits and outlets.
B. Branch circuit wiring, conduits, outlets, switches, receptacles,
disconnects, control devices, etc.
C. Lighting Fixtures including lamps and all necessary fixtures
hardware.
D. Complete grounding system,
L. Permits and Inspection fees.
F. Coordination with other trades.
G. Cleon -up.
H, Testing.
I. Warranty.
J, Cutting, patching and caulking for oil penetrations required
for electrical work.
K. Visit the site and become familiar with conditions affecting
Instollotion.
1.02 CODES
A. Work shall be performed In accordance with oil applicable
requirements of governing codes, rules and regulations,
including the Notional Electric Code, State Electrical Safety
Orders, rules orrd regulations of the local telephone company.
1.03 PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS
A. Contractor shot[ secure and pay fo- all required licenses,
plan checks and permits Involved with the performance of
the elec tricot work on this project and shall arrange for all
Inspections as may be required by the enforcement agencies.
B. Corrections for Items of workmanship or method of Installation
thou may be required by the enforcement agency shall be
promptly accomplished without additional cost to the Owner,
1.04 DRAWINGS
A. The Contractor shall provide as-bullt drawings to Architect
with oil changes noted thereon at the completion of the
project.
1.05 SHOP - DRAWINGS - BROCHURES
A. Shop drawings shot[ be submitted In accordance with shop
drawings and samples section.
B. Shop drawings and brochures shall be submitted for the
Following,
1. Ligh_ing fixtures (In form of brochures).
C. Submit, within two weeks of the award of contract, a list of
all manufacturers of all electrical equipment to be furnished
on this project. Such a list should show only one manufacturer
for any one type of equipment.
D. Shop drawings or data at variance with these specifications or
drawings shall be subject of a separate transmittal letter
setting forth all pertinent information. The contractor shall
assume full responsibility for Function and conformity to space
requirements, as well as the coordination.

1.08 LOCATIONS
A, The drawings Indicate, In a diagrammatic manner, the desired
locations and arrangements 01 the components of the
electrical work. Follow the drawings as closely as possible,
but use judgment and coordinate with the other trades to
secure the best possible Installation In the available space
and under the developed conditions.
B. Before Installing any conduit or locating any outlet, examine
the complete set of drawings and speclflca dons and verify
all dimensions and space requlrenents. Make such minor
adjustments as may be necessary to avoid conflicts with the
building structure or the work of other trades.
2.00 PRODUCTS AND EXECUTION
2.01 MATERIALS
A. Except where specifically Indicated otherwise, provide only
new materials having all legally required approvals and /or
labels.
B. Provide materials complying with the standards of the
following organizations, except where these Contract
Specifications ore more stringent. The applicable standards
will be those In effect at the time of bidding this work,
1. Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).
2. Institute of Power Cable Errglneers Association (IPCEA).
3. Notional Board of Fire Underwriters (NBFU).
4 National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA),
5. Notional Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
6. Underwriter's Laboratories, Inc. (UL).
7. American National Standords Institute (ANSI).
C. Items of a similar nature shall be of the same type and
manufacture.
D. Conduit,
1. Use electrical metallic tubing for trade sizes of 112 to 2
Inches Inclusive in all dry locations, except where rigid
metallic conduit Is required or Indicated.
2. Use flexible steel conduit for short motor or vibrating
equipment connections. Flexible conduit connections In
areas exposed to the weather shall be the liquid tight type.
E. All conductors shall be new U.L. approved with 500 volt
Insulation, type THWN or XHHW for size No. 6 acrd 'orger
and type THWN or THHN for size No. 8 and smaller. Minimum
conductor shall be No. 12. Color code all branch ClrLJIt
wiring. Each phase shall be the some color throughout the
system and shall be a different color fro. other phases.
The Identified or neutral color shall be white. All conductors
shall be copper.
F. Outlet boxes shall be 4' square by 1 1/2 ' deep minimum and
shall be of the solid gang, galvanized or sherardized
pressed steel knockout type.
G. Duplex convenience outlets shall be the grounding type with
two current carrying parallel contacts and one u- shoped
grounding contact Internally connected to the frame, rated
15 amperes, 125 volts. Receptacles shall be Hubbell 5262 -1.
H. Provide specification grade, heavy duty, AC 'L' Rated, quiet,
white, total enclosed switches, with phenolic best. Provide
Ingle -pole, double -pole and three -way switches as Indicated.
Switches shall be Hubbell 1221 -I.
J. Provide plastic plates for all outlets.
K. Lighting Fixtures,
1. All fluorescent lamp ballasts shot( be UL listing and ETL /CBM
certification, high power factor type, equipped with non -
resetting thermal protectors built Into both the capacitor
and coils or they shall be type 'P' where required, and of
the quietest sound rating commercially available. Ballasts
shalt be Magnetek Ti lad electronic ballast.

Electric, Westinghouse ronla.
2,02 WORKMANSHIP
A. Use only competent and skilled personnel and perform all
work, Including aesthetic as well as electrical and mechanical
aspects, to standards consistent with the best practices of
the trade.
B. Repair or replace without additional compensation any work
which, In the opinion of the Architect, does not conform to the
specifications.
2.03 EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION
A. All equipment shall be Installed In accordance with
manufacturers Instructions
B, Support electrical material from building structural elements
only.
2,04 CUTTING AND PATCHING
A. Do all cutting, patching and fitting required for the electrical
work, except as otherwise directed. Secure the permission of
the Architect before performing any operation likely to affect
the strength of a structural member.
B. Do all patching to the some quality and appearance as the
original work, and, where required or directed, employ the
proper tradesmen to secure the desired results.
2,05 PPOTECTION OF WORK
A. Protect electrical work at oil times from damage, defacement
or deterioration from any cause whatever. Provide proper
storage facilities and conduct operations to this effect.
Perforn electrical work In such a manner as to protect the
work of other trades.
B. Repair or replace damaged electrical work and be responsible
for the correction of any damage done In the performance of
the electrical work to the work of other trades.
2.0& CLEANING
A. Maintain all surfaces to be pointed In a clean and smooth
condition. Where electrical work Is exposed to view, remove
oil foreign material and restore all damaged finishes.
B. At the completion of the work, leave lighting fixtures and lamps
clean.
2.07 TESTS
A. In addition to any tests required by the General Supplementary
or Special Requirements, perform or cause to be performed
any tests specified for electrical work.
B. When the work Is substantially complete, and at o time selected
by the Architect, conduct an operating test In the presence of
the Architect, Demonstrate all equipment and systems to operate
In accordance with requirements of the Contract Documents and
to be free of electrical and mechanical defects.
2.08 AS BUILT DRAWINGS
A. Show all changes, additions or deletions to the electrical work
on the as-built set of prints and transfer on one set of sepias,
sepios to be obtained from original contract drawings).
B. Mark the actual routings of all underground conduits Installed
exterior to buildings. Dimension the terminal locatlon and show
Its depth below finished grade for each underground stubout.
2.09 WARRANTY
A. Provide written warranty for all work for a period of one (1)
year from the date of final acceptance.
