Page 1 of 2 REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL To:Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council From:Jason Simpson, City Manager Prepared by:Johnathan Oliver Skinner, Director of Community Services Date:February 27, 2024 Subject:Bunny Trunk Hop Road Closure Recommendation Approve the road closure for the Bunny Trunk Hop event on Saturday, March 30, 2024. Background The Community Services Department is excited to bring back the highly successful Bunny Trunk Hop to Historic Main Street. Last year we added a unique and fun twist on kids gathering eggs by integrating a trunk or treat. Local groups and businesses came out in support in full force, decorating their car trunks with spring themed decorations where thousands of children walked from one decorated car to another, collecting candy and treats. The event provided a great opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy the start of the spring season. The event supported local businesses, promoted the downtown area, and provided a fun and family- friendly experience for residents. Discussion The 2024 Bunny Trunk Hop is planned to take place on Main Street in Downtown Lake Elsinore from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Community Services Department, Public Works Department, and Sheriff’s Department will coordinate resources to ensure public safety. As a result, staff is recommending street closures Main Street between Peck and Limited as detailed in Exhibit A. It is recommended that these street closures remain in place from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The street closures will be enforced by Law Enforcement personnel.
