Background
The Levee Walking Path Trail is a popular recreational trail. The trail is situated along the levee
that runs parallel to the lake's shoreline, providing scenic views of the lake and the surrounding
landscape. The levee trail is approximately 3.5 miles long, making it a great option for walking,
jogging, running, cycling and outdoor fitness equipment. The trail is flat and well-maintained,
making it accessible for people of all fitness levels. It is a popular destination for locals and visitors
alike, seeking outdoor activities and enjoying the natural beauty of the area.
Placing an LED lighting system along the levee walking path trail will offer important benefits; one
of the primary reasons for installing LED lighting is enhance safety. By illuminating the walking
path, it allows people to use the trail during the evening or low-light conditions, improving visibility
and reducing the risk of accidents or falls. Installing an LED lighting system for the levee walking
path trail improves safety, security, accessibility, aesthetics, and energy efficiency. It enhances
the overall experience for trail users and contributes to the enjoyment of and utilization of this
important community resource.

Holophane recommended 32 LED lights versus 63 as Holophane ensures the 32 LED lights will
light the path with a brighter light rather than the other 2 companies and use half the number of
lights. These lights are more expensive per unit($3,500.00), but due to the fewer number of lights
that still provide the same amount of walkway lighting. The Holophane proposal has been
determined responsive and is recommended.
Fiscal Impact
Funds are available in the City's Fiscal Year 23/24 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).
