Background This project aims to address any existing damage or deterioration, improve the overall condition and functionality of 11 City parking lots, and enhance their appearance and safety. Asphalt repairs are necessary to fix any cracks, potholes, or other surface damage in the parking lots. Cracks and other damage in the asphalt can allow water to seep into the underlying layers, leading to more significant structural issues over time. Repairing these areas and applying a slurry seal can help prevent water infiltration, protecting the parking lots' integrity and extending their lifespan. On June 13, 2023, a Public Works Construction Contract was awarded to NPG, Inc. for the project's complete Asphalt Repairs, Slurry Seal, and 11 City Parking Lots striping. NPG Change Order No. 1 Page 2 of 2 Discussion During the construction process of this project, it was determined that additional work was needed at the Lake Community Center front parking lot. Over time, asphalt surfaces can deteriorate due to regular usage, exposure to weather conditions, and the weight of vehicles. This can result in cracks, potholes, and uneven surfaces, making the parking lots unsafe. Striping, wheelstops, and signs are crucial in ensuring a parking lot's safety, organization, and compliance with safety standards and regulations. The additional work will consist of: · Remove and dispose of 4,000 sq. ft. of concrete and asphalt. · Construct 555 sq. ft. of 6" concrete flowline and cross gutter. · Pave 4" of asphalt with ½" of PG 70-10 HMA over compacted native soil of approximately 3,980 sq. ft. · Modify the existing concrete landing to match the adjacent elevation. · Furnish and install 2 water meter boxes with traffic grates. · Furnish and install 8 parking stalls with 4' long wheelstops. · Add 1 handicapped stall with sign/post and wheelstop to the right side of the existing handicapped loading zone in the rear lot. Fiscal Impact Funds are available in the City's Fiscal Year 23/24 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP Project Z40023). Attachments Attachment 1- Change Order No. 1 ! " !
