Recommendation
Appoint Anthony Williams to serve on the Lake Elsinore Planning Commission for a partial term
expiring December 31, 2024.
Background
Per Lake Elsinore Municipal Code Section 2.24.020, the Planning Commission consists of five
members who shall not be officials or employees of the City and shall be at least 18 years of age
and legally reside within the City limits of the City of Lake Elsinore. Sections 2.24.030 and
2.24.040 provide that the members of the Commission shall be appointed by the City Council “by
district” with one member appointed from each of the five City Council Districts. With some
exception, Planning Commission members must reside in the Council District from which they are
appointed. Planning Commissioners are generally appointed to a four year term. City Council
Policy 200-5A sets forth the process in which applications will be accepted and reviewed.
Former District 4 Planning Commission representative, Matthew Dobler, resigned from the
Commission effective April 29, 2023. The appointment before the City Council is to fill the
remainder of the District 4 Planning Commission term.
Discussion
The City Clerk’s Department posted the Notice of Accepting Applications for Consideration of
Appointment from May 15, 2023 through June 23, 2023.
As shown on the attached application, Mr. Williams has a notable history of community
involvement and volunteerism.
