Existing state law requires every fire department or district providing fire protection services to inspect every building used as a public or private school annually. The bill also requires the administering authority to formally acknowledge receipt of the compliance report in a resolution or a similar formal document. Discussion The responsibility for conducting the required inspections falls to the Fire Division as directed by the Assistant Fire Marshal. In conducting these inspections, Fire Divisionstaff review compliance with such items as fire sprinkler and fire alarm maintenance, safe exiting, fire extinguisher maintenance, conducting fire drills, and safe storage of combustibles. In review of all completed inspections the Assistant Fire Marshal has determined that all required inspections have been completed for Calendar Year 2019. Adoption of the recommended resolution and transmittal appropriate State Agency will meet the City’s obligation under SB 1205.
