Subject: Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement for Contractor Services with Excel Landscape,
Inc., for Annual Citywide Landscape Maintenance Services
Recommendation
Authorize the City Manager to execute Amendment No. 1 with Excel Landscape, Inc., and
increase compensation by an additional $53,000 for a total not to exceed the amount of $266,300
per fiscal year in such final form as approved by the City Attorney.
Background
On October 27, 2020, City Council approved the award of the contract to Excel Landscape, Inc.,
for maintaining the landscaping that is encompassed in the street right-of-way referred as to
“streetscape.” Due to the volume of maintenance work this job entails, the City contracts with
vendors to supplement the staff’s effort to keep up with the workload.
Discussion
This project includes Landscape Services for Citywide Facilities and Streetscapes. The work
performed under this contract consists of design and installation, maintenance, irrigation
management and conversions, fertilization and chemical application, and pest and disease
control.
Due to the unforeseen cost increases in material and labor, Excel Landscape is requesting an
adjustment to the extra work pricing. Services are also required in new locations. Staff would like
to continue with the much-needed Landscape Services for Citywide Facilities this fiscal year and
is requesting additional funds to cover the unforeseen cost increases and additional scope of
services:
Repairs
Additional Planting
Additional Locations
