1. Subject: DARTS® Brand Self-Drilling/Self-Tapptug Steel Screws
Il. Description: A. General: DARTS® Brand screw fasteners are
manufactured from heat-treated steel and have a coating consisting o:
phosphate and/or electroplated zinc. Screws are self-drdling/self--i apping
steel screws available in various nominal shank diameters ranging From
0.138 to 0.250 inch (3.51 to 6.35 mm), with nominal shank lengths vacy-
ing from 7/16 to 11/4 inches (11.1 to 32 mm) with smooth or knurled
shanks. The screws are available in head styles of pan, hex washer head,
pancake, fiat, wafer and bugle. The screws comp!y with SAE J78 and
ASTM C 954.
Allowable fastener loads are as shown in Table 1. Allowable values are
for a single shear connection consisting of two steel sheets of the same
material type and thickness. Steel sheets must conform with ASTM A 653
SQ Grade 33 with a minimum 33,000 psi (228 MPa) yield strength for
minimum uncoated thicknesses of 0.0359 inch and 0.0478 inch (0.91
mm and 1.21 mm), and Grade 50 with a minimum 50.000 psi (345 MPa)
yield strength for minimum uncoated thicknesses of 0.0747 inch and
0.1046 inch (1.90 mm and 2.66 mm).
B. Installation: DARTS® self-drilling/self-tapping screw fasteners are
installed without predrilling holes in the receiving member of the connec-
tion. Fasteners of No. 4 through No. 10 screw diameter must be installed
with a screw gun having a minimum speed of 2,500 rpm, with 1,800 rpm
for fasteners of No. 12 and 1/cinch screw diameter incorporating a depth -
sensitive or torque -limiting nose piece. Installed fasteners must protrude
through the attached members three full threads beyond the attached
members. The connection is for fastening of studs to tracks, studs, truss
numbers, or strap bracing cold -formed steel members complying with
Section 2230, Division V, of the code. The distance from the center of a
fastener to -:he edge and end of a stud or track shall not be less than three
times the screwdiameter. The minimum edge and end distance from con-
nections subjected to shear force in one direction only may be reduced
to 1.5 times the screw diameter in the direction perpendicularto the fora.
C. Identification: Fastener heads are marked with the Compass Interna-
tional logo as noted in Figure 1. Each box of fasteners has a label bearing
the DARTS* brand name, fastener descriptioo, head style, size, point
type, length, quantity, country of origin. ICBO ES evaluation report
ER -5102, and screw gun RPM recommendation as noted in Figure 2.
Ill. Evidence Submitted: Report of shear and tension tests in accord-
ance with AISI CF92-1; calculations and product description.
Findings
IV. Findings: That the DARTS® Brand Ser[ DrWfog/Self Tapping
Steel Screws described in this report comply with the 1994 Uniform
Building Code ', subject to the following conditions:
1. Fasteners are Installed in accordance with the manufacturer's
instructions and this report.
2. Allowable shear and tension values comply with Table 1.
3. Allowable loads shall not be increased due to duration of load
such as wind or earthquake forces.

Dear Mr. Pebley:
Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District has attempted to perform a fire flow test in
accordance with the A.W.W.A. M17 Manual and Formulas. Due to the hydraulic
strength of the existing transmission main at the above referenced project, we are unable
to get the required 10 PSI drop to calculate an acc»rate test result. The actual fire flow
rate is in excess of the required fire flow rate for this project which would be 1,500
GPM for two hours at 20 PSI Residual, as required by the riverside County Fire
Department.

4. Prior to the issuance of building permit the applicant or
D2vraloper shall separately submit two copies of the water
system improvement pians to the Fire Department for review
and approval. Calculated velocitiea shall not exceed io feet
per second. Plans shall conform to the fire hydrant types,
location and spacing; system shall meet the fire flow re-
quirements. Plans shall be signed and approvers by a regis-
tered civil engineer and the local water company with the
following certifications "I certify that the'design of the
water system is in accordance with the requirements pre-
scribed by the Riverside County Fire Department."
THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS MUST BE MET PRIOR TO OCCUPANCY AND

private strasts, public streets and driveways to indicate
location of fire hydrants. Prior to installation. placement
of markers must be approved by the Riverside County Fires
Department.
2,. Gate entrances shall be at least two fast wider than thea
width of the traffic lane(s) serving that gate. Any gate
providing access from a road to a driveway shall be located
at least 30 feet from the roadway and shall open to allow a
vehicle to stop without obstructing traffic on the road.
Where a one-way road with a single traffic lane provides
access to a gate entrance, a 40 foot turning radius shall be
used.
3. Gate(%) shall be automatic or manual operated, minimum 24
feet in width. (late access shall be equipped with the Knox
Co. rapid entry system. Plans shall be submitted to the
Fire Department for approval prior to installation. Automat-
ic/manual gate pins %hall be rated with %hear pin force, not
to exceed 30 foot pounds. Automatic gates %hall be equipped
with emergency backup power. Gates activated by the Knox
System shall remain open until clocod by the Knox. System.

submit to the Fire Department for approval, a site plan

ing and/or signs.

D. Install portable firm extinguishers with a minimum rating of
2A-1ODC and signage. Fire Extinguishers located in public
areas shall be in rmcessod cabinets mounted 49" (inches) to
center above floor level with maximum 4" (inch) projection
from the wall. Contact Fire Department for proper placement
of equipment prior to installation_
6. It 1% prohibited to use/process or store any materials in
this occupancy that would classify it as an "N" occupancy
per Sectlon 307 of this 1994 Uniform Building Code.
7. Please contact the Fire Department for a final inspection
prior is occupancy.
