and Associates for the Public Work’s Office Building Project (CIP Project
#Z20023)
Recommendations
Approve and authorize the City Manager to execute Change Order No. 1 for a not to exceed
amount of $62,714.55 with Maples and Associates for the Public Work’s Office Building Project
(CIP Project #Z20023), in final form as approved by the City Attorney.
Background
Construction bid documents were prepared and the project was advertised for bid per the
requirements outlined in the California Public Contract Code. On May 6, 2020, the City posted on
PlanetBids the notice inviting bids for the Public Work’s Office Building Project (CIP PROJECT #
Z20023). On July 7, 2020, a construction agreement was awarded to Maples and Associates for
the demolition, concrete, framing, rough plumbing, windows, and roofing of the Public Work’s
Office Building.
Discussion
The scope of additional work contained in this Change Order is needed to complete several
additional construction elements. It has been determined cost-effective to have Maples and
Associated complete additional elements in conjunction with the current contracted scope of work
elements. The Change Order contains the following key elements to complete the construction of
this project:
Additional plumbing and plumbing final with all appliances and fixtures
Additional framing to accommodate drop-down ceiling areas for electrical, plumbing, and
HVAC passages
Additional building structural blocking
Concrete wall external coring for HVAC Inlets
Special inspections epoxy embodiments

Fiscal Impact
The cost of this Change Order No. 1 to the Public Work’s Office Building Project is included in
the Fiscal Year 20/21 – 24/25 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) budget.
