Background Per Lake Elsinore Municipal Code Section 2.24.020, the Planning Commission consists of five members who shall not be officials or employees of the City and shall legally reside within the City limits of the City of Lake Elsinore or be the owner of a business that is established and currently licensed inside the City limits. Sections 2.24.030 and 2.24.040 provide that the members of the Commission shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of a majority of the members of the City Council for a term of four years. City Council Policy 200-5A sets forth the process in which applications will be accepted and reviewed. Discussion The term of office for Commissioner Ross expired on June 30, 2020. Additionally, Commissioner Armit moved and is no longer qualified to serve on the Planning Commission, therefore, leaving vacant a term which expires on June 30, 2022. Pursuant to City Council Policy No. 200-5A, applications remain on file through December. The City Clerk’s Department posted the Notice of Accepting Applications for Consideration of Appointment from January 13, 2021 through February 3, 2021. A total of 13 applications were received by the filing deadline. After taking into consideration the desire of the City Council to allow representation for each Council District, the City Council sub-committee interviewed four of the 13 applicants and has nominated Jodi Peters and Michael Carroll for consideration by the City Council.
