Subject: Change Order No. 3 - PlainJoe Studios for Wayfinding Signage
Recommendation
Approve and authorize the City Manager to execute Change Order No. 3 for $79,356.34 for the
Agreement to PlainJoe Studios' for Wayfinding Signage.
Background
PlainJoe Studios' assisted with the development of a branding and marketing concept for the
RV Resort Rehabilitation Project. Additional work by PlainJoe Studios’ included farther-
reaching content-rich, emotionally compelling, and experiential opportunities to tell the Story of
the RV Resort. Key community leaders and staff worked together to develop the needed
branding for the RV Resort Project. The result conceptualizes and constructed important
information about the RV Resort and feeds a dialogue between campers and the campground
where they stay. Much of this leads to a static and digital wayfinding system, signage, unique
graphics, exhibition substance, installation of both art, and play elements, all with a common
branding of the entire RV Resort.
Discussion
The purpose of this change order is to further the approved signage design and build for
branding and wayfinding at Launch Pointe. Working with CalTrans on the Launch Pointe
entrance (Riverside & Lincoln), it has been determined additional signage is needed to improve
traffic movement into Launch Pointe from Lincoln. Also, this change order will provide for
additional Launch Pointe marketing opportunities on the main entrance arch. Specifically, on
both the right and left side of the arch, two large panels will display the Bobber Restaurant and
Lake Boat Launch advertisement banners. Finally, in this change order, additional signage and
pedestrian portal elements will be constructed to improve the beach access and will be installed
to complement the currently under construction marina deck with ADA and staircase access to
the beach from the parking lot.

Following the approval of this agenda, item coordination will begin on the fabrication and
installation of these elements. The beach access portal will require minimal site development to
support the construction of the arch. All other elements will essentially be mounted in
predetermined locations to facilitate pedestrian and vehicular movement.
Fiscal Impact
The change order is part of the FY19/20 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) budget funding.
