Commencing January 2020 through May 2020, with the consensus of LETA’s Executive Board and LEUSD’s Superintendent, this School Safety Ad Hoc Committee (SSAHC) is established to examine district school safety needs in accordance with the Federal Commission on School Safety Final Report (Dec. 18, 2018), and to share its independent recommendations with the LEUSD Board of Trustees, LETA and other district stakeholders for consideration. 2 2 Goals & Objectives Establish School Safety Ad Hoc Committee and work group Set up work group meeting schedule JAN-MAY and action planner Scope of work Needs Assessment: “felt” needs of teachers, students parents, staff Desired Outcomes: prioritized in each category: facilities safety; training & professional development; prevention via positive behavioral & mental health supports (e.g., SEL, PBIS, Tier I,II,III, MTSS); and LEUSD’s communications protocol Policy Recommendations: new, amends existing, replaces existing, model Delivered in the form of a ‘White Paper’ Summarizes school safety perceptions among various LEUSD stakeholders. Identifies school safety priority recommendations and actions involving facilities, training and professional development, behavioral/mental health supports, communications protocol. Includes school safety policy recommendations for consideration by LEUSD Trustees. Presentations to LETA, district stakeholders, and other public outreach. 3 3 Committee & Work Group Composition Admin.
