HomeMy WebLinkAboutPresentation 2 - The Lake Incident June 4th 2014Reported Commercial structure fire at Lake Street and Nichols Road. Smoke was visible from the station and the dispatch was up graded to a 4+2 also a request was made for 2 Water Tenders and a Breathing Support. On arrival we found a 4 story Shaker/ Conveyor Machine with heavy fire involving the 4th story of the machine. The Lake Incident June 3rd 2014 1 No accessible water at the scene. Oil filled rollers inside the machine were exploding and the burning oil flowed down through the machine. This in turn ignited rubber and plastic components in the machine contributing to the fires intensity. Challenges 2 With the resources at hand we were able to confine the fire to the machine. As soon as it became apparent that water was not readily available I ordered 4 additional engines. Firefighters at the scene were able to improvise a water source that allowed us to control the fire.
