Ages 14 – 21 2.5 or better GPA Physical Agility test Real life Interview with Paid Fire Staff 2 Lake Elsinore Post 297 established in 2012 at McVicker Park station 85 with 5 Explorers Currently relocated to Rosetta Canyon Station 97 with a total of 20 Explorers 3 Training syllabus established by Riverside County Explorer Committee 3 or more hours every week, to include written tests, practical exams, and psych-motor skills testing. Roughly 200hrs per year of hands on training at both station level and off-site training grounds. IEFEA CFEA CPR/First Aid HAZMAT FRO CERT Additional Training 4 National average shows that over half of the career firefighter started in a youth/volunteer program. Explorers that excel take lessons learned with them for a life time. Many return to become Advisors and even our BOSS! 5 Community Service hours required. Public Relation events Grand Openings City Events Highly encourage the City of Lake Elsinore to utilize this program to assist in any way possible. Allows residents to see program at work. Generates inquiries about program. 6 501 c (3) Non-Profit Program Rely heavily on donation received from Fund-Raising throughout the year. Expenditures decided within the program are based on level of importance, and voted on within the Explorers themselves One Explorer assigned as a Treasurer with Post Advisor oversight. Currently have Explorer Advisors at all City Stations 7 Our goals are to provide a real time experience for our communities’ youth Teach teamwork, respect, comradery and responsibility. Make our youth realize what will be expected from them as they enter adulthood. Explain the importance of decision-making at a vulnerable age in their lives.
