SUBJECT: Establish and Appoint Ad-Hoc Subcommittee for Active Transportation
Program (ATP) Subcommittee
Recommendation
It is recommended the Commission establish and appoint one commissioner and one
alternate to an Ad-Hoc Subcommittee for projects and programs related to Active
Transportation Program (ATP).
Discussion
Subcommittees are an effective way to facilitate the efficient flow of communication and
ensure Commissioners actively participate in the research, study, and development of
proposed recommendations and programs related to a specific purpose.
Existing PSAC Subcommittees include:
Homeless Task Force (Williams & Carlos)
The proposed Ad-Hoc Subcommittee will encourage use of active modes of transportation
by achieving the following goals:
Increase the proportion of trips accomplished by biking and walking
Increase safety and mobility for non-motorized users
Enhance public health
Ensure that disadvantaged communities fully share in the benefits of the program
Provide a broad spectrum of projects to benefit many types of active transportation
The subcommittee members will be asked to participate in public outreach meetings,
research, study, and review of applicable information as needed.
