Subject:Rescinding Resolution 2017-055 and Lifting the Ban on the Use of United
Airlines for Travel
Recommendation
adopt A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKE ELSINORE, CALIFORNIA,
RESCINDING RESOLUTION 2017-055 AND LIFTING THE BAN ON THE USE OF UNITED
AIRLINES FOR CITY PAID TRAVEL FOR THE CITY COUNCIL AND STAFF MEMBERS
Background
On April 25, 2017, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2017-055 boycotting United Airlines and
banning the use of the airline, for City paid travel.
Discussion
Due to the swift response and recent actions taken by United Airlines to implement proactive
solutions and policies to correct the actions leading up to the incident and to prevent the future
mistreatment of its passengers. Council Member Manos has requested that the Council rescind the
Resolution and lift the ban of United Airlines.
Fiscal Impact
There is no fiscal impact associated with this item.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKE ELSINORE,
CALIFORNIA, RESCINDING RESOLUTION 2017-055 AND LIFTING THE BAN ON THE
USE OF UNITED AIRLINES FOR CITY PAID TRAVEL FOR THE CITY COUNCIL AND
STAFF MEMBERS
Whereas,the City Council (Council) adopted Resolution No. 2017-055 boycotting the use of United
Airlines for City paid travel; and,
Whereas, United Airlines has diligently sought to correct the actions leading up to the incident and
implement proactive solutions to safeguard against future occurrences; and,
Whereas,the Council and the City of Lake Elsinore (City) no longer desire to boycott the airline.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKE ELSINORE DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: The Council hereby rescinds Resolution No. 2017-055 in its entirety and lifts the ban on
the use of United Airlines for City paid travel.
Section 2:This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
