Subject:Construction Agreement with Edmondson Construction Company for the Site
Preparation and Placement of Class II Road Base at La Laguna Rehabilitation
Project (CIP PROJECT #Z40007)
Recommendations
Authorize the City Manager to execute the Agreement in the amount not to exceed $89,500.00
and in such final form as approved by the City Attorney.
Background
On February 1, 2017,staff initiated construction material and proposal bids from area contractors
to provide an RV storage area material composition and site preparation plan and proposal.
Several cost effective materials were recommended and proposed for optimum space utilization
and storage operations. On and before February 10, 2017, proposals were received from three
local contractors.The proposal from Edmondson Construction Company was reviewed and
determine the lowest and most cost effective and complete proposal for the site preparation and
placement of class II road base. The proposed amount is within the anticipated cost estimate for
this project.
Discussion
The purpose of this proposal is to seek effective material applications and competitive pricing and
for the site preparation of the La Laguna Rehabilitation Project (CIP PROJECT #Z40007).The
overall essentials in this scope of work are summarized below as general requirements:

Remove tree stumps and debris
Compaction entire site to 95%
Remove high and low areas with minimal grading
Place and compact CL II base 4 inches thick (4,700 tons)

Following the approval of this agenda item work will immediately begin on the site preparation
and placement of class II road base at La Laguna RV Storage Area. Staff has reviewed and
verified the contractor has a valid license and a review of the contractor’s references.
Fiscal Impact
Site preparation and placement of class II road base at La Laguna RV Storage Area is included
in the Fiscal Year 16/17 – 20/21 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) budget.
