REPORT TO SUCCESSOR AGENCY
To:Honorable Chair and Members of the Agency
From:Grant Yates, Executive Director
Prepared by: Susan M. Domen, MMC
Date:September 27, 2016
Subject:Cancellation of Certain Regular Meeting Dates for 2016
Recommendation
Approve the proposed cancellation of the Regular meetings of November 8th, 22nd, and
December 27, 2016; call a Special Meeting on November 15, 2016; and, direct staff to arrange
for additional meetings as necessary to conduct the business of the Agency.
Background
Many governmental agencies “go dark” during certain times of the year and more specifically
during the holidays. Last year, the Agency voted to cancel several meeting dates during the last
quarter of the year.
Discussion
The Agency Members are being asked to consider going dark again this year at certain
designated meeting dates immediately surrounding the holidays. The proposed dates are the
Regular meetings of November 22, and December 27, 2016.
Additionally, the Agency Members are being asked to consider the cancellation of the Regular
meeting of November 8, 2016. This meeting falls on election day and is typically cancelled to
allow candidates and citizens the opportunity to participate in election day festivities. To ensure
that the business of the Agency is conducted in a timely manner, staff is proposing that the
Agency call a Special meeting on November 15, 2016, and direct staff to arrange for other
meetings as necessary throughout the remainder of the year to address Agency business.
Fiscal Impact
There is no significant fiscal impact, other than staff time to prepare, associated with this item.
