Subject:Award Public Works’ Construction Agreement to McKernan Inc.for the Steel
Doors and Windows Installation (Proposal Set “J”) at Rosetta Canyon Sports
Park Phase II Project (CIP PROJECT #Z40004).
Recommendations
1. Award a Public Works’ Construction Agreement to McKernan Inc. for the Steel Doors and
Windows (Proposal Set “J”) at Rosetta Canyon Sports Park Phase II Project (CIP PROJECT
#Z40004).
2. Approve and authorize the City Manager to execute the Agreement in the not to exceed amount
of $38,915.00 with McKernan Inc. in the form attached and in such final form as approved by the
City Attorney.
Background
On May 5, 2016, staff initiated and advertised on the City’s website, City Clerk board outside and
in the local newspaper a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Steel Doors and Frames/ Exterior
Windows Installation (Proposal Set “J”) for the 2,800 square feet concession and restroom
building currently under construction at Rosetta Canyon Sports Park Phase II Project (CIP
PROJECT #Z40004).The Proposal Set “J”submittal deadline was May 20, 2016,at 4:00P.M.
Three proposals were received on or before the deadline. This contractor (McKernan Inc.) was
interviewed and determine responsive and complete and the proposal amount is within the
anticipated cost estimate for the scope of work.
Discussion
The purpose of this proposal is to seek competitive pricing) for the Steel Doors and Frames/
Exterior Windows Installation (Proposal Set “J”) at Rosetta Canyon Sports Park Phase II Project
(CIP PROJECT #Z40004). The overall essentials in this scope of work are summarized below as
general requirements:

Following the approval of this agenda item work will be scheduled on the doors and windows
installation. Staff has reviewed and verified the contractor has a valid license and a review of the
contractor’s references determined no issues with the quality and performance of their work.
Fiscal Impact
Rosetta Canyon Sports Park Phase II Project is included in the Fiscal Year 15/16 – 19/20
Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) budget
