HomeMy WebLinkAbout0010_1_Staff Report Canyon Estates Design REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: GRANT M YATES CITY MANAGER DATE: March 8, 2016 SUBJECT: Award Professional Services Agreement for Canyon Estates Drive and Canyon View Drive South of Franklin Street Roadway Improvement Recommendations 1. Award a Professional Services Agreement to Sustainable Civil Engineering Solutions for the Design of Canyon Estates Drive and Canyon View Drive South of Franklin Street. 2. Approve and authorize the City Manager to execute the Agreement in the amount of $157,425 to Sustainable Civil Engineering Solutions, in the final form as approved by City Attorney. 3. Appropriate $157,425 in Fund 205, Traffic Impact Fees to fund this agreement. Background Camino Del Norte roadway runs parallel to Interstate 15 from 2nd Street to Main Street and has been identified as a significant alternative traffic route with future roadway realignment plans. Anticipated development, including the proposed Franklin Street interchange, warrants the construction of a traffic signal at Franklin Street and Camino Del Norte, in addition to realignment of Canyon Estates Drive and Franklin Street as well as realigning Canyon View Drive. Discussion The design improvements will provide a safe improved traffic flow on Camino Del Norte Roadway from the existing Franklin Street by realigning both Canyon Estates Drive and Canyon View Drive. The scope of service includes the design of roadway improvements to realign streets at the intersection of Franklin Street, Camino Del Norte, and Canyon Award Professional Services Agreement for Camino Del Norte Roadway Improvement March 8, 2016 Page 2 Estates Drive and Canyon View Drive the consultant shall provide final plans, specifications, as well as construction support services. Additional scope of services details will include the following services: Data collection Contract plans Engineering reports Right-of-way engineering Environmental Clearance Construction bidding support Construction phase support Geotechnical Engineering Fiscal Impact This is an additional CIP project in order to be ready to construct roadway improvements in the area of the Camino Del Norte arterial improvements. Funds are available using Traffic Impact Fee (TIF) funds (Fund 205).
