A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKE ELSINORE,
CALIFORNIA, BOYCOTTING THE USE OF UNITED AIRLINES FOR CITY PAID
TRAVEL FOR THE CITY COUNCIL AND STAFF MEMBERS
Whereas, on April 9, 2017, United Airlines and Chicago aviation police forcibly removed a 69 -year-
old passenger from an overbooked flight after he refused to vacate his seat; and,
Whereas, video footage of the incident spread rapidly online urging travelers to boycott United
Airlines after the passenger, David Dao, suffered a concussion, broken nose and lost two teeth
because of the incident; and,
Whereas, the City Council (Council) and the City of Lake Elsinore desires to make a statement
against such horrific treatments and policies by an airline to its passengers.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKE ELSINORE DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: The Council hereby pledges that all members of the Council will no longer fly United
Airlines for City paid travel.
Section 2: The Council hereby directs that all City staff no longer fly United Airlines for City paid
travel.
Section 3: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption
