RECOMMENDATION: Receive and file.
BACKGROUND: The following provides a summary of the Lake, Parks &
Recreation Department's program, activities and events for February 2013:
Administration
Hydroseeding and planting of native vegetation was completed on the T- peninsula of the
Levee System and will be followed by five (5) years of monitoring and maintenance to
comply with the USACE's approved Habitat Mitigation & Monitoring Plan required for the
construction of the La Laguna Boat Launch Facility.
Parks & Facilities
Renovations began at McVicker Canyon baseball fields to establish a new uniformed
distance for base paths as set forth by the little league user group, bring in additional
baseball clay to drag and level the fields; build a brand new pitching mound to meet
specifications set by little league; all in preparation for their upcoming season.
Special Events in February:
Julie Szabo, Local member of the Audubon Society, led a bird walk for the Oceanside
Birders on the levee system (2/17). Agility Trials sponsored by South Coast Vizsla Club
and managed by Lynda Tjark Agility Productions took place at McVicker Park (2/15-2/18).
This is the third year hosting this type of event in Lake Elsinore.
Upcoming Special Events for April:
• 4/6 - Smoking Tire & Campfires Car Show at La Laguna Resort.
• 4/6 & 4/7- Warrior Dash 5K Mud Run at the Stadium /Levee.
• 4/11 -4/14- Frontier Days Carnival at the La Laguna Resort.
• 4/20- Unity 5K/1 OK Walk/Run at the Stadium /Levee.
• 4/27- JDRF Walk for a Cure a Stadium /levee.
• 4/27- Unity in the Community Parade along Main Street, Graham & Heald.
