CELEBRATION APPROVAL FOR STREET CLOSURES AND
MUNICIPAL CODE WAIVER
1. Approve temporary street closures for the Re- Opening of the Lake Elsinore
Historical Society Museum on April 30, 2015 from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. from
Main Street intersection at Heald Avenue to the dirt lot behind the Cultural
Center.
BACKGROUND
In January 2012, the Lake Elsinore City Council approved a seismic retrofit of City Hall
and the Cultural Center to meet Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and
California Emergency Management Agency (CALEMA) standards. During the work, the
Historical Society relocated items offsite awaiting for the day to bring back the history of
Lake Elsinore.
DISCUSSION
In 2014, the Cultural Center was reopened for use and the Historical began moving in
the rich history of Lake Elsinore into the building. The doors have been opened for the
community and visitors since then. An official "Re- Opening" is planned for Thursday,
April 30, 2015, which requires a small road closure from 3:30pm — 8:OOpm on Heald
Avenue from Main Street to the driveway behind the Cultural Center.
