SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION
Recommendation
The Council sub - committee will make its short list recommendation to the Mayor and Council
for consideration of two (2) short -term appointments to the City's Planning Commission. A
vote will be called for each nomination, and the applicant receiving the highest number of
affirmative votes from the majority of the Council present shall be appointed to serve on the
City's Planning Commission for a term commencing on March 1, 2015 and ending on June
30, 2016.
Discussion
The recent departure of two sitting Planning Commissioners has caused two short-term
vacancies on our Commission. Pursuant to City Council Policy No. 200 -5A, the City Clerk's
Department published and posted the Notice of Accepting Applications during the month of
February. A total of eleven applications were received by the filing deadline. The Council
sub - committee consisting of Council Member Magee and Council Member Hickman will
conduct the interviews of all those that have applied and will make its short list
recommendation to the Council at the regular meeting. Due to the number of applicants,
those interviews could not be concluded prior to the publication of this agenda packet.
Pursuant to Lake Elsinore Municipal Code Section 2.24.030 and City Council Policy No. 200 -
5A, the City Council sub - committee will make its recommendation to the Mayor and Council
for appointment of two Planning Commissioners with the approval of a majority of the
members of the City Council. The term of office for the newly appointed Planning
Commissioners will commence on March 1, 2015 and expire on June 30, 2016. Copies of the
applications of those being recommended will be distributed to the Council under separate
cover and the originals of all applications are maintained in the City Clerk's Department.
