HomeMy WebLinkAboutPetition to Withold City Attorneys' ContractCITIZENS OF LAKE ELSINORE PETITION TO WITHHOLD CITY ATTORNEYS' CONTRACT We as concerned Citizens of Lake Elsinore, do hereby petition the City Council, to open up to bid the City Attorney's contract. The City of Lake Elsinore has continually contracted with one legal firm since 1998 without competitive bid. In 2005 a Grand Jury recommended the city open the bidding, for selecting a City Attorney. The city declined to adhere to the Grand Jury's recommendation. Our current City Attorney's fees are exceeding 600K/year, and are too costly to the Citizens of Lake Elsinore. The City Attorney has not lived up to her contractual duties and continues to bill the city in arrears. Thus, making it impossible to ascertain the true cost in legal fees. We the Citizens of Lake Elsinore, having signed this petition strongly urge all Council members to not renew the City Attorney's contract until bidding has opened up to other law firms with at least three respectable bids. We believe this would result in monetary savings to the city, as well as to the taxpayers of Lake Elsinore. CITY CLERKS OFFICE l l f Y,.
