A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LAKE ELSINORE, CALIFORNIA, IN SUPPORT OF
URGING THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES TO
ACTIVELY PURSUE THE TIMELY RELEASE OF MARINE
SERGEANT ANDRES TAHMOORESSI
WHEREAS, On July 31, 2014, Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez dispatched a letter
to the White House asking that the President of the United States, as Commander -in -Chief
do everything in his power to help free Marine Sergeant Andrew Tahmooressi, who has
remained needlessly imprisoned in Mexico since March 31, 2014; and
WHEREAS, In addition to Assemblywoman Melendez, representing the 67"' District,
the letter was signed by 17 other members of the California Assembly Legislature
representing Assembly Districts 3, 5, 6, 12, 23, 33, 34, 38, 42, 44, 55, 68, 71, 72, 74, 75, 77
and three State Senators representing Senate Districts 1, 29, and 38.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lake Elsinore, California, does
hereby resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. That City Council pledges its support of the President's involvement.
SECTION 2. The Mayor is authorized to sign the letter addressed to the President of
the United States urging his pursuit for the timely release of Marine Sergeant Andrew
Tahmooressi
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall communicate this action to President of the
United States.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Lake Elsinore, California, this 26"' day of August, 2014.

the same was adopted by the following vote:

Hickman, Council Member Tisdale, and Mayor Johnson
