SUBJECT: ADOPTION OF MEETING SCHEDULE AND CANCELLATION OF
CERTAIN MEETING DATES FOR 2014
Recommendation
It is recommended that the Successor Agency approve the proposed meeting schedule and
cancellation of the regular meeting dates of November 11, November 25, and December
23, 2014.
Discussion
Many governmental agencies "go dark" during certain times during the year and more
specifically during the holidays. Last year, the Council voted to cancel several meetings
dates during the last quarter of the year. It is proposed that Agency consider going dark
again this year at certain designated meeting dates immediately surrounding the holidays.
The proposed dates are November 11, November 25, and December 23, 2014.
Staff is proposing that the Agency approve the cancellation of three regularly scheduled
meeting dates during the months of November and December. November 11 falls on
Veterans Day at which City Hall is closed; November 25 falls on the Tuesday before the
Thanksgiving holiday; and, December 23 is two days before a state mandated holiday in
which City Hall is closed. Typically, staff goes on vacation during the holidays and business
slows down therefore it is being suggested that Agency consider cancelling the proposed
meeting dates.
Should an emergency occur at any time a Special meeting can be called with only 24 hours
posting notice to the public in order to address any necessary Agency business.
Fiscal Impact
The cancellation of any Council and Successor Agency meeting dates will reduce the costs
incurred by the City for meeting location cost and staff time.
