No. 1948-28623~ ORDINIINCE N0. 286 J AN ORDINEINCE' OF THE CITY OF ~:ISINORE, CALIFORI~?IA, _ ADOPTIP~IG AND ~STABT ISH?NG l, SYSTr,M 0'r' HOUSI: NUMSERS FOR SAID CITY OF SLSIPIORE. ' The Ma~~or and Council o£ the City o£ Elsinore do ordain a.s follows• " ~ SEGTIOPI l. That for the promotion oi the.safety, convenience, comfort, peace, order ~nd general vaelfare o£ the Cit;~ of' Elsinore, a uniform _I syst~m of house numbers;khich shall supersede all exi,tin~ house numbers, is hereby adopted and established in the Citj~ of Elsinore, as set forth ar_d contained in th~t certain nap entitled ~~House Numbers in the City of Elsinore, Cali£ornia", all on file in the office of the City Clerk of the said City o£ lilsinore~ which is hereby ~.dopted as the s~~stem of house numbers in said Cit~r and b~r reference rnad~ ~, part of this Ordinance. SECTION 2. That ever~r person, f=rm or corporation owning, con- trolling, occuo;,*ing or usin; any house, store, storeroom or building situate on premises £ronting on'any sbreet, avenue or other public wayr or place in the City of Elsinore sh~ll~ on or tefore the first da~*'of Sep~. 191~£3, procure, place, att~Fch and Maintain in a conspicuous place on the street £ront o£ every such house, store, 'stor.eroom or building and on, over`or near each and every door or entry thereto facing on any stre~t, avenue or other public wa~* or place, the number assigned thereto by this ordin~nce. SECTION 3. That ~11 such numbers shall be of sucn size and t~~° and so placed as to be easil,y a~isible and legible from the center oP the street, avenue or other public waJ or place upon which suc!i premises £ront and shall not be less than three and one-h~lf (3~) inches in height, provid~d that numbers emhossed, stamped or pa._nted on a plate of contrasting color m~y be not less than two and one- half (22) inches in hr,;,~ht. That old or existing nwnbers may be ~llowed to rem~in I I in place in addition to such neia numbers for a period o£ s;~~: days from and aFter ___ the first da~r of Sept. 194B, but therea£ter shall be promptlJ re~ioved. SECTIOPd 5. That every persons, £irm or corporation oivning,,con- trolling, occup+,p.'ng or using an;,* house, store, storeroor.i or buildin~ required b~* t'~is ordinance to be num~ered, who £ails, neglects or ,-efuses to procure, place, attach or maint~in riumtiers on such"prem_ses as herein provided shall be deemed ~;lt~,~ o£ a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be punisned by a fine of not less than Five Dollars nor more than Ten LbLars. SECTION 6. All ordinances and ,~arts oi ordinances of the Cit~~ of ETsinore in con?lict herewith ~re hereb~~ repealed. SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption o£ this ordinance and cause the same to be ~ublished once in the Elsinore Le~der Press~ a weekly newspaper in ~eneral circulation, printed, published and circu]_ated in said Cit*~ of ~lsinore, I, Pau1 Kuenzli~ the duly elect~d, quali£ied and acting Clerk of the CitS• oi Elsinore, C~lifornia, hereby certii;,~ tha.t the foregoing ordinance was duly and regularl~r introduced on the 10th da~r o£ Ma~, 194g, and w~.s.adopted by the Council of said Cit~ at its meeting held on the 21;th day oi May, 19G8, by the Follovrin~ vote: ~ AS'ES: Councilmen, Hudson, i~orton, Penrod, Yarbor.ough and Mayor I Tarpley.
