HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Reso No 1953-768 RESOLUTION # 768 1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELSINORE PH9rESTING THE PASSAGE 2 OF SB 1100 AND AB 1640-1641-1642 & 2429 3 It having come to the attention of the City Council of the City of Elsinore 4 that Senate Bill 1100 and Assembly Bills 1640-1641-1642 and 21.j.29 which bills 5 propose to revise the method of paying the cost of operating the Judicial 6 Courts is contrary to and ignores the assurances under which the consolidati n 7 of Justice Courts with the ~ty Courts was submitted to the electors of 8 the state as well as ignore the fact that city residents are already 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 paying their pro-rata share into the county general fund:- FURTHER: Since a great portion of the expense of operating the Judicial courts is incurred by the adnunistrationof civil matters wInch alw~s has been and rightly so, as county responsibility- FURTHER: Since these bills appear to ignore theiact that cities cannot use monies derived from traffic fines and forfeit~res for the support of their police departments, therefore it appears a gross miscarriage of justice for the state of California to dictate that monies thus derived shall be used to pay the expense of operating said Judicial Court in the administration of (.;i viI justice in addition to IvTisdemeanor matters. THEREFORE-BE IT RESOLVED: By the City Council of the City of Elsinore) Assemblymen and Senators of t his district be and are hereby requested to oppose the passage of SB 1100 AB 1640-1641-1642. and 2429 by any and all means at their disposal Be it further resolved: That copies of this resolution be forwarded by mail to Senator Dilworth, Assemblyman Backstrand and Senator Tenner chairman of Judiciary committee.
