Dear Mayor Bartlett:
I would like to invite you to participate with us in
the staging of the Grand Prix for Sports Cars at Riverside
International Raceway, October 15 and 16.
The event is sponsored by the Los Angeles Times-Mirror
Co. on behalf of Times and Mirror Charities, Inc., an
organization which supports a wide variety of youth activities
throughout Southern California.
Now in its third year, the international sports car
event has the best field of cars and drivers ever assembled
for a race in the United States. On race week-end, Riverside
will be the capital of the sports car world.
Riverside County residents from every community have each
year contributed to the success of the Times-Mirror race by
their attendance, their work as volunteers on race days and
their hospitality to visitors.
For these reasons I suggest that you can help our charity
race by giving it as wide public notice as possible in your
communi ty. One way would be to introduce a resulution, similar
to the sample I enclose, in a meeting of your city council and
to urge that the press and other news media publicize it.
The Times-Mirror Co. and the charities will appreciate
anything you can do along this line.
