WHEREAS, the restoring of an adequat.e supply of welter to Lake Elsinore has
been a long recognized recreational and economic need in Southern California, and
HHEREAS, legislation of some durDtion has been extant to provide funds for
the subject purpose, and
HHEREAS, the Governor of California has frequently taken the public stand that
the 1lI;..kes" restoration was of vital concern to him, and
W1mFEl~, The City of Elsinore, the County of Riverside and the L~ke Elsinore
Recreation and Park District have labored long and cooperatively tOvmrd the desired
end, and
W:YElillAS, it appears that all financial and legal considerations have now been
fu.lfilled, and
vJHEREAS, the existence of the IItake" is economically, historically and by name
associated with the City of Elsinore, and
1;,l}IERE.:'I.S, only the .final documents as prepared by the Attorney Generals office
remain to be executed, and
\illlm::HEAS, the Ci t;)r of Elsinore is plarming an image build..i.ng Dj_8mond Jubilee
Celebration, scheduled for November 15 - 16 - 17 inclusive, that will be the subject
of national coverage by mass news meQia, and
~^mEREAS, the contemporary evolution of take Elsinore has been watched far and
wide in both the United States and Canada, and
WHEREAS, the proposed Jubilee could provide an occasjon of su5table auspiC':Lousnes8,
therefore,
I..F;T IT BE RESOLVED, that the City Council of Elsinore a.'1d all interested citizens
propose that Mr. Hugo .Fisher, who is the Director of Natural Resources of the State
of CalifOrnia, be urg~d to take advantage of the Jubilee for the culmi.nation of
their long sought project and proV'ide a nonce in a lifetimen. climax to a most
historical event.
