RESOLUTION NO. ll~
A RESOI,UTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ELSINORE, CALIFORNIA.
WHEREAS the tracks owned by the Santa Fe Railroad from a point near the Union
Oil Bulk Plant to the point easterly where the track ends is seldom used, and,
WHEREAS the tracks presence preclude the joining of Lakeshore Drive and
Railroad Avenue, which junction would permit the classification of the combined
thoroughfare as part of the major street system with eligibility for gas tax
allocatioR, and,
WHEREAS contemplated zone changes will permit the erection of several planned
multiple dwelling structures which will require better ingress and egrel!lls, and
WHEREAS the probable site for the new high school is located in the general
area making the tracks further undesirable, and,
WHEREAS the City is anxious to acquire the railroads right of vmy as soon as
possible to permit the development of a divided highway to accomodate the anticipated
traffic increase to serve the Lake, and,
WHEREAS the City of Elsinore had thought that the matter of track removal to
the Union Oil Bulk Plant was resolved by previous negotiations,
THEREFORE the City Council of the City of Elsinore, in full accord with the
City Planning Commission and representing the Citizens of Elsinore,
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE that this resolution be properly executed and transmitted
to the proper Santa Fe Railroad authority as an expression of the CitY'1i! request
that the railroad track hereinabove described be removed by the railroad at the
earliest convenient time and that if further negotiations are necessary that the
City Administrator be specifically empowered to negotiate and sign for the City in
this matter.
ADOPTED AND APPRO~~D this 24th day of June, 1963 by the City Council of the
Ci ty of Elsinore.
