JOINING IN PROCLAi~tATION OF SUPPORT ,
t~R 3~iEW ~iATIONAL CEMETERY SITE AT t~ARCH AIR BASE
`WH£REAS, the Veterans Administratibn of the United States has recognized the
need for a new natidnzl cemetery within the sta`te of California to serve de-
ceased veterans o° the nation's miTitary forces, and
4IY.E~EA5, the Ueterans Administration has diligently reviewed nine possible
sites and ~educed the chaice to three: March Air Force Base near Riverside;
White Woli Va11ey near Bakersfield, San Luis Reservoir near Los Banos, and
47HERF'AS, tne Piarch' Air Foree Base site is located within one to two hours
of the Los Angeles,`Drarige, Riverside-San Be~nardino, Ventura and'San Diego
metropolitan areas aherein reside a significant majority,af both veterans and
~w!, i active duty personael of the military forces and their families, a~d
, WH£REAS, the 2darch Air Force Base site is adjacent to a nilitary install-

~j ation deditated ~o the security of the nation since March 20, 1918, when named
~~
~ to honor Second Lieutenant Peyton C. March, Jr., and
WHE~P,S, P4a-rch fiir £orce Base is iden~ified with men who wrote their names
~ ;~ ~
~ in the militar~ history of the nation - Frederick Eglin, Hoyt S. Vandenberg,

Nathan F. Twining, ^thomas S. Powers; Curtis E. LeMay, H. H. Arnold, Ira Eaker,

4 Emmett 0'Donnell, Colin Kelly - and in so doing dedicated this ground to the

memory of the nation's veterans for all tiine, now, therefore,
