The meeting was called to order at the hour of 9 e.m. with PSayor A. G. Keck in the chair. Councilman L. B. Taylor, J. H. Hell and .A, G.. %edc anstivered the' roll call; .Absent: Councilman P. C. Graham. The minutes :of the meeting. held on Cct. 5th were thenrread by the clerk and, on motion duly made end,carri d; were approved:-a s read.' The clerk then sported to Cdunci T hat it: was the opinion of City Rttorney Eugene Best that the meeting of Council:. held on>Oct. 12th was not legal, it being a legal holiday and advised that: the proceedings of said meeting be voided and re-enacted> whereupon it-was mw ed by' Councilmal ;Tey for and, seconded by:':; Councilman Bell;that:the meeting; of Counclmon Cct,. 12th be voided and the proceedings of said meeting re6enacted, ~:ich motion upon vote carried. The chair then: appointed N uncilmah Taylor an'the:Auditing Com- mittee to fill the va&ancy caused: by the: resignation o;f'Counca 1man:Everett,:' RRap o,f: Country Club Heights Unit ~25.was then:preserited to Counci 1 for their approval and acceptance:: whereupon;t was:moved by Counc%lmaa 1~11.andseconded by Councilman Taylor that;klap pf: Country Club Heigtrts Unit rr25 be approved:andl accepted, which motion, upon vote was carried. _ '. Thereupon it was mw:ed by Councilmazi Bell: and se¢ossied by Councilman Taylor,: that,Idr, harry Gallagher be appointed-,City .Gounalma to fill the ;vacancy. caused by the..resignation"of w. ;L. Council. then took under consideration the Temesnal Water Go-,'s ;'- offer to deed to the City certain parcels of land lying along their-ppe;ldne passing through the city. whereupon it was moved;by Councilman Taylor and seconded by;; Councilman Be11 that ~n informal vote be taken on„the;acceptam e,of the Temescal ayater Co.!s offer wlaidr resulted as follows; _ _ Ayes: Councilmen `!'aylor, Bell, Keck and Gallagher, Noes: None, Absent: Councilman- P, C.-Graham.: - Oct: 19; 127 The clerk then presented to the Council the written resignation of Councilman P.-C..Graham. .`, . 'Nhereupon it was moved by Councilman Taylor and seconded by Councilman Bell that the resignation of Councilman Graham be accepted to take effect-at once, which motion.carried by the following+vote. -ryes: Councilmen Taylor;-X11,-Keckand 'Gallagher. .'Noes: None. r ~ . ;ibsent• None.- A communication from the Christian Science Church requesting of Council that they be'granted a permit'to place in the City: Park a receptacle containing scieiice'lterature vacs-then presented,-to the-: Council: , Whereupon it was: duly moved and`carried,shat, said permit be granted to- the Science Ahurch subject to revocation: - Thereupon City Engineer Graham'submitted-to Gouncil:a map of the proposed enlarged Lakeshore Sewer District for consideration,.:. Whereupon it was duly :moved and'-carried that the petition for this proposed improvement Be referred to-Ielr. ^~eo. Dirr £or added sig- - natures and that the map be filed with::the. City Engineer.- Upon Council !s:attention being called to certain>sewer mai ns being obstructed by`a,heavy deposit of:sedimerit,-it-was-duly - - .moved:.and carried. that the"clerk be instructed to inform fir. Harmon '~ to check up on said mains and have them thoroughly, flushed out, The clerk then.:cailed to Councilaa`attention-that notices for the fiscal pear's taxes were being mailed out showing an'-increased rate over last year and thought~it'advisable that?a+ published"notice giving the taxpayers a detailed statement of the levy's and the cause far theincrease,`be inserted in the local papers. Whereupon it teas duly moved and carried that the clerk be instructed to prepare-such a notice an'd'have it pubTtished n'botIs :local papers. Councilman Taylor these. called attention to Chief of Police Easton's appon`hnerit not having--been regularly confirmed. - Whereupon-it was moved by Councilman Taylor'arid seconded by Councfilman Bell that Pdr: F.'H: Easton's'appointment-to tYe -position--o•f Chief of Police be regularly confirmed which motion carried by the unanimous vote of the Council.' Thereupon it was 'duly moved"and carried that the Chief of Police be instructed to make_application for and file a bond with the City in the sum of'~2000.00. _. .Page..#3 :.. H. Tweed be appointed Councilmrxi to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Councilman P. C. Graham, vahich motion was carr9e d by the following yote:; fiyes: Councilmen Taylor, Bell,,j{eck and Gallagher., Noes: None, ;absent: None.. Counolman Taylor then called attention to a certaih article pub- lished in-.the Oct.. 13th ,issue of.the Elsinore Leader Press with reference to tho Pottery Street improvement. Whereupon it was rnoved,by councilman Taylor and; s~ponded by Council3nan Bell that the article appearing in the Act. 13th'issue,of the ~"lsinore Leader-Press with reference to the Pottery St. improvement be resented as it is an insult to the City Council, an injustice to the C ity Engineer, a detri- ment to the community and not altogether the truth, which motion was carried by the following. vote, dyes: Councilman Taylor „Bell, Keck and Gallagher. Noes: None, Absent: None. The chair then ,appointed Councilman Bell on the Au9iting Committee to fill the vacancy caused",by the resignaticn of Councilman Pr C: Graham. Bills as audited by the ;auditing Committee erere thei present ed to Council and upon motion duly made and on call:vote carried,-were ordered paid and the clerk was instructed to issue warrants in payment of sane .
