City Council of the City of Elsinore wa.s held oh the above date. The meeting was called"to order at the-hour of 9 a'.m.-with F;layor i~. G. Keck in the chair. Councilmen L. B. Taylor: P. -0. Graham; A. G."Keck and d.=fi. Bell ans~+rered the roll call. Rbsent: Councilman ~d. L. The chair then called to Coun~ 1's attention, that the-Stahdard Cil Go, had inforce d hira that due to certain changes they could no longer render satisfactor,r service to the City in delivering gasoline, ai:d reported that the Main Street Service Statior, i^ruld acoept _the City's gasoline business on the basis cf 172¢-a gallon. V~Jnereupon it yr^.s moved by Councilman Taylor .and seconded b;r Councilman C-sham that a.ll gasoline fcrc~ 'the City be purchased frcm the Pe;a.in Street Service Station, and -b hat the clerk be instructed>to-inform all de- partments using gasoline tc this effect, +rliich motion upon vote cae~s un<:ni- ' mously carrisd, Council then took up for consideration the Police Department, it being generally expressed that the city could not maintain athree-man department, and sheuid get along with one da.y and one night police. Dr. Garver they. appeared before Council andaslced the privilege to address the council open the question, stating that he was speaking for at least 300 citizens, and urged that Council retain Billy frank as Chief ofa; the Police Department, ,with assurance that if it vvas a matter of finances, the citizens vsrould back the council by accepting increased taxes: Upon due consideration of the matter, it was moved by Councilman Taylor and seconded by Councilman Graham that traffic policemen Is. Upon motion of Councilman Graham and seconded by Councilman Taylor and on vote carried, tho matter was referred to the Cit~r %ttor ney for attentim Thereupon, Ordinance ~1°2 tivas introduced and presented to -che Board upon first reading, being an Ornina.nce amending certain sections of Ordinance"158, a Uuilding crdin~.nce.: In the absence of Councilman isberett, the chair appointed Councilmaiz Taylor.to,serve;upon,the Auditing Co.raittee. Bills a.s audited by the Auditing Ccnmittee ~M1ero then presented to Council and on motion duly made and, on call vote carried, v:~ere ordered paid ~~.nd the clerk v+as instructed i:o issue vtarrants in_payment of same. . - Thereupon there being no, furthsr,busines to come before tine council, cn motion duly made and carried, Council adjburnod to meet in regulzs session on Wednssday, Sept. 14th, at the hour of 9 a,in. , in the -0ity Ha11,; the usual r.^.eeting place, ~~ C1er Mayor
