read by the Clerk and on motiox: duly made and carried yore approved
as read,
The Clerk then presented to Ccnncl a communication free

that action on the franchise be defferred ur_til a more thorough opinion
could be rendored,

a communication from Atty, C. H,,~..~,;~,~crrepresenting S. FI. Gunder with
reference to the .application of Sol Calif. Gas Co, for a franchise aslc-

arrange for a hee.r ing at which -the3- ini_ght have an opportunity to present
P.ir. Gund.er's -position in trxe matter.
Thereupon .said communication on motion duly made and carried w~:~s
ordered temporarily laid on the table.
Thereupon the Clerk presented to Councia. a .communication from
Atty's ?.Rc Adoo, Neblett, O'Ccnnor w Clagatt representing Pairs. Gunder,
with reference to the ai~nlication of the So, Calif Gas Go, !for a fran-
chise advising that the Gunder interests trere frilling to sell: their gas
plant to the Se. Calif Gas Co. :and requested that Council postpcne action c
en the application for a reasonable time within which thev might con-
svmate such a sale.

The Cleric then presented •to Council a petition eigned by 296
citizens of ?;lsinors petitioning Council to grant the So. Calif. Gas Co.
a franchise.

I hearing of protests to the improvement of Sumner and ether streets

Thereupon the Clork presented to Council Resolution ,200 being a Resolution
ordering the improvement of Suttvner and other streets being that certain erork of
improvement described in a resolution of intention .198 adopted Suit' 23, 1923.

Langstaff that F.esolution j~280.be,passed and a.depted, thick motion eras carried by the
follovting voto;.

Thereupon it teas moved. bg Councilman Gallagher that the aup].ic~a icn of
the Sc, Ca.1if. Gas Cc, fora franchise be grazzted ethi:cit motion was seconded by
'Councilman Langstaff.

A general discussion eras then had vtith reference to the application of the

sinore Gas Co., S. H. Grander, ocv~ner of the Elsinore-, Gas 7lorks and Ntr. I{ing and Iar.

to the application of-the So, Ca19.f. Gas Co, for franc':^ise it ~a>as moved by Council-
- man Piiaes and seconded by.Councilma_n Langstaff that 'the application fo the So.
Calif. Gas. Co. for a franchise be laid over for further consideration. td the ne,t'
meeting of the Council to be kreld on Sept. 10th and that all parties interested in
said application present at that meeting their propositions and if satisfac+bory re-
gotiations mere not arrived at, that Cow2cil at that time take action Capon the

The Clerk 'then reported to Council that check for 150,00 from
the Prudential Life Ins. Co, had been received by the city to cover
refund of said amount:;; Said by the City for bi;.rial e;cpenses of ^!, :,,
Smith and advised t_a't it was through the cooperation cf lY. L.
Everett that said. refund was secured.
'.`lhereupon it was moved by Councilman utaes and seconded by
Councilman Langstaff that a vote of thanks be extended to i:r. Everett
for hi.s cooperation in calling the matter to the City's sttcntion
tahich motion upon vote ~^ra.s unanimously carried.

sented to Council and -on motion duly made and on call vote carried.

Council on motion duly made and carried Council adjourned to meet in
