G. Keck in the chair. ~~ Councilmen= H. Gallagher, H. 0. Langstaff, A. S. Bµrnham, C. S. '! Merrifield and A. G. KecY, amswered the roll•eall. ~~ Absent: None. I~ ~~ Minutes' of the pregious meetir~ held on August 12th were then read ''i by the clerk, and on motion duly made and carried were duly made and carried, I~ were approved as read. ~i ' ~~ The clerk then presented to Council a communication° from L. A. F. Macs ~~ chairman of the Patrol Boat Committee in which he outlined the Committee's _ i plans: to.~rovide a patrol-boat €or the lake and submitted-an estimated bud- 's - '- get to cover the probable cost of ne iYatenanee per season amounting to X459,00, and suggested that the city agree to contribute one half of the maintenance cost of the balance.to be pro-rated between the various beaches. '~ _ ~ ' FPhereupon after-some consideration of the matter it was moved by Coun- ~; Gilman Burnham and seconded by Cduncilman Gallagher that the communication ~ , -be received and :ordered-p].aced`on file ~forfurther consideratioh; which mo- tion was carried by the following vot•e;- ,; Ages.:. 'flhereupon it was moved by Councilman Langstaff and seconded. by Count ii ~ Gilman Burnham that City Attorney Beat'be granted a 30 day leave of absence i` which motion was upon vote.unanimously carried. i I The clerk .then presented to council a communication from 0. L. Powell Editor of the Leader Press, calling attention to the fact that the City had neglected to publish the Clerk's Annual Report as provided by law. -whereupon it was moved bq Councilman Merrifield and seconded by ' Councilman Langstaff that the Glerk be instructed to have his last annual ~ report published which moticn Vrascarried by the following vote: ~,; Ayes; Councilmen Langstaff, Merrifield, Burnham and Keck. ~ ~ Noes; Councilman. Gallagher. i ' Absent: None. i~ ~; The Clerk then presented to Council a communication from the State Department Social i~lfaxe regarding the-Elsinore City Jail. ~j whereupon: it was moved by Councilman Merrifield and seconded by ~i Councilman Gallagher that said communication be received and ordered placed on,:file which motion was carried.by the-follca~ing vote: Ayes: Councilmen Gallagher, Merrifield, Burnham and Keck. ~!
