Councilman ?,lees than reported that he had made an investigation of tine proposed closing of adobe St. and had ascertained from instrusted parties fleet a strong protest would bz made to the closing. of said. street if a:ny action was taken, and further stated that he could see no good reason why s~:id street sl:culd be closed and therefore recommended that no fu~her consideration of the matter be tracer. The Clerk then presented to Council a cormnunicatior, from J. Y.. BeIL owner of tho Elsinore Garage, submitting his bid and soliciting the City's. business on gasoline and oil. for the City's Cars, G°heroupon it was duly moved and carried that said cormuunic;tion be received and ordered t~laced. on file. The Clerk then read a communication frorn the State Compensation Ins. Co. stating that as a result of en inspection r,:ade pf the premiss at the City .'tester Plant they urged -that certain changes be made for the protection ~xYd safety of the employees. Whereupon it was duly moved ~n8 carried that 'the matter be referred $o Pd. Harman 1^Tater Supt. \rit'Yn instructions that he see to it that the suggested changes are made. The Cleric then presented for Councils approval a yearly contract subrnit~ted,bg the Air Reduction Co. contrs~cting for the purchase of Acetylene and Cxygen~ for the City's Vi~ater Dept. 'dthereupon it, was moved by Councilman P:iaes and seconded by Councilman Langstaff that the Contract submitted the Air Reduction Co. be approved and that the Clerk be authorized to execute same on behalf of the Cit;,r which motion upon vote was carried. IPr. S. P;i. Rice 'then appeared before Counci_1 and reported that the Chamber of - . Corrmxerce and the Lion's Club had each appointed a Corvnittee to work out ways and means of providing and maintaining a pLrblic playground ir. the City and that as Chairman of the Lions ;Club.Committee he was seeking Ccuncils aid and. cooperation in the promotion cf -this vrork. clhereupor. it mess moved. by Councilman :viaes and seconded by Councilman Langstaff .that the chair appoint a Committee from -hhe City Council to work vvith the Corvnittees from the Chamber of Commerce and Lions Glub on •tize matter of providing a.l;ublic _aayground in the City, vr'nic h motion upon vote was unani-nously carried. . The Chaff: appointed Councilman Gallagher and Langstaff to serve on said Committee.
