The meeting was call ad to order at the hour of 7 o'clock P.M. with I~Hayor A. G. Keck in the chain Councilmen: H. Gallagher, H. 0. Langstaff, C. S: Merrifield, A. S. Burnham and A. G. Keck answered the roll call. - Absent.: , None J~ IV[inutes, of the previous meetings held on March 2;4th and March 31st were then read by the Clerk and on motion duly made and: carried were approa ed as read. .The Building Superihtendent's monthly report for the nmonth of March was then presented to the Couhcil-and on motion duly made and car- ried, was accepted and ordered placed on file.. The Treasarer's monthly report was then presented to the Council and on motion duly made and carried was accepted and ordered placed on .file . The ClerY, then presented to the Council the South Western Home Telaphone Co.'s annual statement for franchise tales for year ending Dec, 31, 1929. Gross rentals $~82g.63 with check enclosed for X156.21 to cover a 2~ Franchise Tax. Flhereupon it was duly moved and carried that the report from the South Western Home Telephone Co, and check for Franchise tax be ac- cepted. The Clerk then presented to Council communications from the California League of Municipalites and the State Dep-~.rtment of Public Health who were joining in support of a municipal cleantup campaign throughout the State and earnestly solicited Council's assistance in this campaign. Whereupon zfter Council's due consideration of the matter it was moved by Councilman Langstaff and seconded by Councilman Gallagher that one man be hired with instructions that he clean up the Tetnescal ditch by burning all dead wood and weeds and piling up all cans and rubbish for hauling away by the garbage man which motion was carried by the following voto: Aye a: Councilmen - Gallagher, Langstaff, A4errifield, Burnham, and Keck. Noes: None. Absent: None.. The Clerk then presented to the Council a communication from the State Department of Public Health calling attention to a meeting of the California Sewage Works Assn. to be held at Sacramento April 21st and 22nd, and urgently requested that Council send a representative to attend said meeting. - __ ~ Page #2. Whereupon it was duly mooed and carried that said communi- cation be received and ordered placed on file. Chief of Police Barber then reported to Council that he was having difficulty with street lighting in the Country Glub Heights District because of frequent burning out of lamps due to defective wiring and suggested that Power :.Company. be .instructed to cheek the trouble. Whereupon after some discussion on the matter it vacs reported that the matter had already been called to the attention of the Power Co. .'and that they had promised to make an investigation of the trouble and correct it. Bills as audited by the auditing committee were then presented to the 8ouncil and on motion duly made and on call vote carried were ordered paid and-the Clerk was instructed to issue Warrants in payment of same. Thereupon there being no further business to came before the 0ouncil on motion duly made and carried, Council adjourned to meet in regular session on Monday April 21st at the hour of ~ o'clock P.BH. in the City Hall, the usual meeting place. ~j _ ~ - Clerk '- / ~ ~{,1u4Z~ c~Mayor
