A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Elsinore was held on
the above date.
The meeting vies called to order at the hour of ~ o'clock P. P,4. with Pdayor
C. A. 'Lovejoy in the Chair,
Councilmen: H. Gallagher, Geo. H. ndorton, Jr., 0. B. Sheave, S: M. Rice and
C. A. Lovejoy answered the ro13 call.
Absent: None
Minutes of the previous meeting held on August 8th v,ere then read by the
clerk and i:ith a correction of Councilmen"Gallagher's.report to read that the
Temescal Water Co's pipe line laws originally repaired bvith cement and now had
been repaired with a redvaood plug to stop the leak vaere approved as corrected.
Thereupon the Clerk presented to Council a communication from the State
Railroad Commissioh'reporting that they T;.ere beginning preliminary studies of
electric rates in Elsinore and vicinity and stating that they would keep Council
advised of their progress in the matter.
Whereupon it was duly moved and carried that said communication be received and
ordered placed on file.
Thereupon the chair reported to Council that after several'recuests for some
work on So, Spring Street he made an investigation of the condition of the street
and felt justified in authorizing that several loads. of rock be placed there to
repair same, which report was duly approved and accepted.
Thereupon the Clerk reported to Council that three sealed bids had been received
for the repair of Street lights on Main Street and proceeded to'open the follov-ing
bids

Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Gallagher and seconded by Councilman
Morton that Joe Walker being the lovrest bidder be awarded the contract for repairing
Main Street lights ixndar proposition #2 providing'for 3~4" galvanized conduit
with double ~10 rubber covered wire for ~95,~which motion upon vote-was
unanimously carried.
The chair then reported to Council that the large globes on the ornamental ii
light standards in Country-Club Heights Additioh vrere being maliciously broken
and suggested that perhaps if signs were placed on same declaring this the
property of the city and that persons destroying same will be persecuted, that it
would possibly `help to avoid further destruction of said globes.

P7hereupon it eras moved by Councilman Rice and seconded by Councilman L4orton
that it be authorized to have suitable signs placed on the ornamental light
standards in C. C, Heights Addition and that the matter of securing said signs
at a reasonable price be referred to Councilman Sheave, which motion upon vote
was carried. '
Thereupon Council considered the matter of replacing the broken globes
and it vas agreed that the matter be referred to the street Committee tiaith '
authority to act.
Thereupon the chair reported to Council that fir. Heckman, garbage collector,
had applied for s weeks vacation and stated that at his own expense he had
arranged with Mr. Roy ~;Sacy to take care of his duties during his absence.
whereupon it was moved by Councilman Rice and seconded ,by Councilman
Sheave that Mr. Heckman's request be branted vrh~ch motion upon vote was
carried,
Thereupon proposed Ordinance X214-as amended was presented to Council
on first reading, being a.n Ordinance amending Ordinance #161 providing for the
licensing of business..
whereupon it was moved by Councilman Gallagher and seconded by Councilman
.Sheave that Ordinance #214 be passed to its second reading vrhich motion
upon vote was carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Coucilmen: Gallagher, Sheave,. Rice, Morton and Lovejoy.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
Resolution #258'tivas then introduced and read being a Resolution of the City
Council fixing the tax .levy for the fiscal .year. beginning .July lst, 1932
providing a tax levy on each 0100) of assessed value as follows:

whereupon it was moved.by,Councilman Rice and seconded by.Councilman Sheave
that Resolution #258 be passed and adopted wlxieh>motion~was carried by the following
vote:
..Ayes: Councilmen: Sheave, Rice, T~orton and Lovejoy.
Noes: Councilman Gallagher.
Absent: None.
The Chair then reported to Council that the local unemployment Relief
Committee are low on fihances and that there is .great need far their continued
operation and therefore. asked Council to give consideration to further aiding the
Relief Committee.
Whereupon it was moved by Councilman Rice and seconded by Councilman'A~orton
that it be authorized to contribute X525.00 to the Unemployment Relief Committee

which motion was unanimously carried, j

Thereupon Mr. Harman reported to Council that^the Standard Oil Co . had ;:: ~
shipped two barrels of petrolastic asphalt instead of one as ordered and asked
to~be~advsed what action to take in the -matter. -
Thereupon it was duly moved and carried that Mr. ?-Iarmon be instructed to ~
.return one bbl, of petrolastic. asphalt to~the Standard Oil-Co.
Bill's as audited by tho-audithg committee Vero then presented to Council and 'i
on motion'dnly made-and on call vote carried ~~~ere ordered paid and the Clerk
c{as instructed to issue warrants in payment of same.
Thereupon there being no further business to come 'before Council on motion [~
duly made and carried Council adjourned to meet in regular session on IvYonday,
September 12th, at the hour of ~ o'clock P. M. in the City Hall the :usual meeting
