The meeting was called to order at the hour of ~ o'clock P.M. with Mayor C. A. Lovejoy in the Chair. Councilmen H. Gallagher, 0. B. Skeane,and C. A. Lovejoy answered the roll call. -Absent:' Councilmen Geo. H. ?e4orton Jr. and S. A4. Rice. hHinutes of the previous meeting held on June 26th vrere then read by the Clerk and there being no corrections or omissions were approved as read. Thereupon the Bldg Supt's monthly report was presented to- Council-and an motion duly made and carried was accepted and ordered placed os file..:: _ ~+hereupon the Treasurers monthly report. was presented to Council and on motion duly made ahd carried was-accepted and :ordered placed on file. Thereupon the Clerk presented to Council the Library Boards annual report covering receipts and disbursements for the yee.r from July 1, 1932.to:June 30th, 1933+ also their tentative budget for the ensuing-year ~~as submitted forrCouncil consideration and approval. ~%hereupon it ;^as moved-by.councilman Gallagher and: seconded by Councilman Skeane that the Annual reportof she Library Board be received and placed on file for further consideration which motion upon vote was carried. The Clerk then presented to Council the application of the Golden Gldw Beverage Co, of San Bernardino, for an Off Sale license to sell beer in the< City of Elsinore. Whereupon it was moved bq Councilman Skeane and seconded by Councilman Gallagher that the application of-the Golden Glou; Beverage Co, for am Off Sale beer license be-approved and that they be granted a license to. sell beer in the City cf Elsinore, which motion upon vote was carried. -Thereupon-the Clerk presented to Council the ~:ritten application<of . Councilman Rice, requesting that: he be granted a sixty day leave of absence. gPkiereupon it was moved by Counclman'Gallagher and secondefl by Councilman Skeane that Councilman S. M. Rice be granted a sixty day leave of absence which motion upon vote was carried. The Clerk then presented to Council a communication from the Calif. Municipal Utilities Assn. calling attention to proposed 6tate legislation providing for taxation of Municipal receipts and urging. Council to file a- 'protest to said legislation with-the legislators of their district...! Thereupon it Las moved by Councilman Gallagher and seconded by Councilman Skeane that the Clerk be instructed to foraaard to'Senator Difan and Assembly- man Phillips Councils protest to the proposed legislation of taxation of , municipal receipts Which motion upcn vote was carried. l The Clerk than reported o Council that Mrs. D. ~,. Seward had requested him to call'to Councils attention the dangerous condition of the street-trees in ; REGUL9R h.~ETING GF THE CITY COUNCIL July 1®, 1933 front of her property on ~.{inthorn St. and asked if Council _,ould not authorize -that same be trimmed. Council reforred the matter to Councilmen Gallagher, and Sheane e;ith authority to act, Thereupon proposed Ordinance ~ 223 an Crdinance amending Section 36 of Ordinance # 161 was presented to Council for.consideration. thereupon it was moved by Councilman Sheane and seconded by Councilman. Lovejoy that proposed Crdinance ,~ 223 ,amending Sec, 36 of Ordinance: 161 be laid on the table for further consideration which motion as carried by the following vote:. Ayes: Councilman Sheane'-and Lovejoy. Noes:" Councilman Gallagher. Absent: Councilmen tdorton and Rice. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Sheane and seconded by Councilman Lovejoy that it be authorized to contribute X20.00 to the `-elf are Relief Assn. ~rhich motion caas carried by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen Sheane. and.Lovejoy. Noes: Councilman Gallagher. _ ;absent: Councilmen Pdorton and Rice. Councilman Sheane then reported to Council that his attention ~a~as called to a short in the electric-service line in the Country Club Heights district and suggested that some action be taken on the matter.. whereupon it :mas agreed by Ccuncil that the matter be referred to Councilman Sheane, with authority to act on the matter. , Thereupon it gas suggested by the Chair that it is proper and fitting that Council forwards to the-members of the Golden Jubilee Celebration Committees their expression of`appreciation and sincere.. thanks for their untiring:efforts in making the Golden Jublee celebration an:outstanding uccess. (hereupon it was moved by Councilman Gallagher and seconded by Councilman Lovejoy that the Clerk be instructed on behalf of Council to communcate,to the members of the various Golden Jubliee Committees, their expression of appreciation and sincere thanks for their untiring efforts in ms.king the Golden Jubilee celebraaion such an outstanding success which motion upon vote was unanimously carried.. Upon request of Councilman Gallagher the Chair and Councilman Sheane served oh the auditing committee. Bills as audited by the Auditing Committee were then presented to .Council. and on motion duly made`and on call vote carried were ordered paid,and the Clark Li as instructed to issue warrants in payment of same. `Councilman Gallagher-voting yes on all bill excepting bills for-special- sewer.
