to order at the hour of 7.o'clock P.M. with P~Sayor E. C. 'lvickerd

D?inutes of-.the previous meeting held on July 2nd were then
read by the Clerk and there'bein~'no corrections or omissions

The Bldg. Supt',s'monthly report was then presented to
Council and on motion'dizly made an$ carried was accept®d and:
ordered placed on file.

Thereupon the Clerk presented to Council a Certificate '..
issued by krchitect Orville L. Clark certifying that all work
contracted for: vvitY:-,the following contractors, ~td. 1'. `v~eist, 'Sdm.
D. Fraemer, 2. ;R. Smallwood'. -and Joe L'. 'rJalker-has been complet-
ed in-ac:eordance'with "thei~:.,cbntracts`and requested that Council
pass a resolution accepting `said tivork.
4a'hereupon the Chair c-sked if a letter from F. E. Trask State
Engineer-had been received regarding !o 'the approval-and adcept-
ance of .the City Hall building.
Tl?e C1erk'repoi•tng that a letter was received and there-..
upon presented the communication from F. E. Trask-td Council,
in vahich he stated that the Resident Engineer Inspector on the
job approved and forvSards his approval to the State Engineer
Inspector and that Council naturally have their"ovvn-Inspector
and Architect to advise them. '

munication be 'received and placedon file and `that the Clerk
be instructed to reply to same.
In aacordanee with the drehitects request.
It vvas moved t;y Councilmen Rice and seconded by Councilman:
Skeane that all womk contracted for on the new City Hall structure
including the extras be approved and accepted vahich motion
was carried by the following vote:

Mr. Baker vaas informed that just prior to his appearance / ~
Council had passed a motion approving- and accepting the work I\
on the. City::Hall. Bldg... the Glerk reading the motion.
',`"Iher~upon it was suggested by Engineer Baker that said
motion be amended adding thereto subject to the approval of,
the State Engineer.

','thereupon Councilman Rice moved to amend his former "
motion to read that all work contracted for on the new City
Hall structure,. including the extras be approved and accepted, '
subject to the approval of-.the State Engineer Councilman Sheane I
consented to the amendment and seconded the motion which was: ~

Thereupon the Chair reported to Council that the Chief
of. Police is":in possession of but one key;to the"CitST Jail
cells and suggested that it be authorized"to have at least'`
' two extra keys made.
;~Jhereupon it was moved by Councilman'Sheane and seconded
by Councilman Rice that the Chief of Police be authorized to ,
have two extra keys made for the locks on Jail cells, also to
purchase a:padlock for the detention cell, which motion upon.
vote .was-carried. }
Thereupon Resolution X277 was .introduced and rear'being
a Resolution of the City Council providing for`"the vacation of ~ -.
Irwin Drive in the City of ~~lsnore, County of Riverside, State' I
of Calif . ',,
t~dhereupon"it was moved by Councilman. Gallagher and seconded
by Councilman Rice that Resolution x'277 be passed and adopted
vlhich motion was carried by the following votei

terms of C. S. Pderrifield and I3enry Perret as members of the
Library Board had expired on June 30th.

Councilman Rice that' C. S. NIerrifiela acid Henry Perret be `tee- _
appointed as members of the hibrary Board to 'serve for a Germ
of three years from Jnly 1st, 1934 which"motion upon vote yeas `
unanimously'cerried.
Thereupon the Committee appointed to investigate the matters
oP sewer connection to theeltiartinez property reported that not
being able to'contact,the owner, hat np'action'has been taken
and it was agreed that, the'Commttee'be continued.
Thereupon the'Commttee on City License°Tax advsed_th8t `
they were not prepared to report and it was agreed that staid '
Committee be continued.
Thereupon Council took up for consideration the matter of
placing insurance on the new City Hall<building. -
n`dhereupon'it was'moved'by Councilman Match and'seconded
by Councilman Skeane that Fire Insurance in`the amount of
X7500.00 be placed on the City Hall Building,-'also that plate
glass insurance be'placed on -the `front window and that the Clerk''
be instructed to give notice to all the local insurance agents '
that bids for said insurance will be received and considered
at the next regular meeting of Couhcil to be held oxi July -23rd.,..
which motion upon vote vs'as carried. - -
Thereupon the Clerk presented-to Council'a communication
from Sturart A.`Cundiff Commercial Engineer for-the S0. Sierras
Power Co.`confrmin~'their proposal to'furnish°'elect'ric service
for all the power needs of the City including ornamental
lighting at the rate of 1J per K.`vJ. and agreein; to make the
necessary. installations required'to change from,: gas to electric
drive for X500.00 payable over a period `of two years,`-'this
offer to hold-good td`Sept 1st. -
';whereupon it was duly moved and carded that said communica-
tion be received and placed on file for future consideration.
Councilman.'PLatch suggested that some time in the future a ---
public meetnh be held to consider and discuss the adfisbility
of the proposal to change from gas to electric drive at the City
pumping plants.
Thereupon E. J. Strickland, Industrial Engineer for the So.
Calif. '?as Co. appeared before Council and submitted a written
tabulation of figures as to the annual estimated cost of
operation of the City's water and sewer plants under the present
scheme and under the P-32 schedule of the So. Sierras Power Co.
~ (lc! per K.V~I. Hr). ris presented verbally at the last meeting
i of Council.
'dhereupon it was duly moved and carried to receive said
statement and place it on file for future consideration.

Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Sheane and seconded by
Councilman Rice that `the Clerk be instructed to forward a letter
of thanks to the-City of Perris, `lung's Nursery and the Elsinore
Theatre, for flowers .they sent-for the dedication of the City'
Hall Bldg., which motion upon vote was carried.
~Vhereunon it was duly moved and carried tha the Clerk also
send a letter of thanks and apnreciation:to the comma,.ding offices
at ~"archfield for their support and cooperation by furnishing: the
drum & bugle corp. for the dedicati:ori celebration and sending
planes to scout over the lake to locate the dro~dned bodies.
Thereupon "it was moved by Councilman Sheane and seconded.
by Councilman Rice that the Chair appoint a Committee, of three
to investigate prices of furniture for tne.City,Hall, with
authorit~r to purchase equipment needed within the amount of
funds ,to be available .for.. the .purpose, vahich motion was lost
by the following,vote:
Ayes: Councilman: Sheane and Rice.
Councilmen: Gallagher, i~-~atich:; and ~lickerd.not voting.;

Councilman Rice that the Chair appoint a committee of three-to
investigate prices of furniture for-the City Hall with ,authority
to purchase equpment_needed,, when funds are.abailable.for-said

carried were ordered paid and the Clerk ivas instructed to issue

Thereupon there being nofurther business to come before
Council on motion duly,made and carried Council adjourned to meet
in regular session on Pa~onday July 23rd at .the hour of 7 o'clock
P.M. in the City Hall the usual meeting place,
